LA5 throttle problem if starts running

Recommended Posts

In multiplayer, if the LA5 is set to spawn 'on runway' with its engine running, the engine doesn't throttle up when the throttle is engaged.  If the scenario is edited so the LA5 is cold, 'parking'', then the engine and throttle work fine.

Is there a fix for this?

Strange - never had that situation

It happens to every player in the scenario so its not an installation problem.  It doesn't happen in quick missions.  The mission that it happens in has been resaved which means it shouldn't be a mission problem as aircraft aren't a triggered asset.

Confused....

I think i've seen it in MP with simple engine management. If you disable it by pressing ctrl+n  or ctrl+m you can engage the throttle after that...

I think you meant shift-M

But then the players have to manage prop pitch manually and they don't have any controls for that.

Pressing shift-M again, to go back to simple controls, reinstates the throttle problem.

hmm.. I think it's ctrl-N or ctrl-M..  it disables the engine assists, it doesn't modify prop pitch from auto to manual.. I do this on one of the DED Normal servers... Honestly I do it automatically when I join.. definitely ctrl-

  • What is it assigned to or is it built in?
  • When I do it nothing happens.
  • The throttle lever moves but the engine doesn't change.

ok, I just tried it out. You're absolutely right, it is Shift_M.

So I think what's going on with your side is in NORMAL the RPM are automatically controlled when you push throttle forward. Because of the bug with LA5fn the RPM's do not increase if it's set to Auto. So I press Shift_M to make RPM control manual and I have a separate lever/axis assign on the joystick to control the RPM's in manual mode. It seems you're missing the RPM axis assignment then maybe?

Just use everything on manual/expert settings and you shouldnt have any problems.

Just for reference the LA-5 is REALLY easy to fly, you just crank the throttle and max RPMS and go. Oh and make sure to have your rads open. Don't forget the inlet cowls too, but seriously it's a really easy plane to fly, you can boost for 10 minutes.
