Wolfram-Harms Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 THAT looks like it's going to be a looong afternoon, Borys...! Today I made a flight with LABELs on sometimes, which I normally never have. So I saw the Russian pilots had names, when I got close enough. Does that mean they were aces? Or do they all have names? Does anyone know? However - ace or not - I managed to shoot my first Yak-7 down... Now look at the lighting on the landscape...! 2
Danziger Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Everyone has names. I haven't run into any famous aces yet. Just listed in the newspaper so far. 1
Grey*Ghost Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Hey folks, been spending some time in the new career mode and love it. I set difficulty to normal and front density to medium. Works like a charme and gives so much immersion. I really love how the new career mode gives you a frame and background for each single mission. Here are some screens from my last sortie, a bomber escort, hope you enjoy! Shortly after take-off i hold my position within formation. Rendezvous with HE-111 H6 formation, that is already enroute towards the target. It feels so great to fly with a formation. The new graphic update is really adding to the immersion. After the bombing run, we were attacked by a flight of Mig-3s, that took down 2 of the bombers but suffered heavy losses from themselves. In the heat of battle i forgot to take further screens. More to come. Hope you enjoy the career mode as much as i do! Cheers, Boomer Spoiler 1 2

Wolfram-Harms Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 (edited) That new beasty is very cheeky! Did nobody tell them they are bombers? One of them turned with me, and tried to engage my Bf 109 G with it's nose guns! Tch - the nerve some people have...! Edited March 19, 2018 by Wolfram-Harms

I have always been a big believer in 'Attack Is The Best Form Of Defense' :-) If you flying level in a bomber while being attacked then praying that your gunner gets the fighter before he gets you is a big gamble. If the fighter makes a pass then slowly climbs away in front then I say 'Go for it!' (except when in a good tight formation) I used to do it in CLoD in my blenheim when 109s thought they had all the time in the world to make a lazy turn and come back for another go then found me following them with guns blazing. They forget that the blenheim was also used as a fighter and was not much different to a 110 except for its puny guns. The same applies in BoX, the PE2 was initially designed as a fighter and even the A20 saw action as a nightfighter over England. Evena stuka can be a dangerous enemy when flown aggressively!

AndyJWest Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Coming back from an attack on a Soviet artillery position. I couldn't figure out why my plane was pulling to one side, while both engines were giving full power. I suspect I may have left it hanging in a tree... 1 1
