=X51=VC_ Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Sorry if I'm bringing up an old topic but I've searched around threads and I didn't find a definitive answer. I currently have the 109 stabiliser axis bound to a slider on my joystick, and it works fine. However, I want to re-bind and use that slider for something else. I bound the "axis" to two buttons, one for increasing and another for decreasing the value... but they don't do anything. ? I've un-bound the axis to avoid conflicts, those buttons aren't double used for anything else, but I press them and the wheel doesn't turn. Is binding this axis to two buttons just something that can't be done? Some older threads imply it can but they're mostly of the "what does this axis do" variety, or people mapping other wrong things and expecting it to work in the 109. I know what I want to map and it works as a slider but not as a pair of buttons.
angus26 Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Ive has my stab acid bound to two buttons, and it has worked fine, only solution I could say is try a few different keys, try removing the slider axis, just try and mix and match settings and keys to see if it will work.
Thad Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) For the Bf-109 we have the option to set a axis (rotaries, sliders etc.) and key/buttons for the Adjustable Stabilizer Axis. I use the rotary dial on my FCS throttle. The Fw 190 uses a different set of commands and only allows the use of key/buttons: Fw-190 adjustable stabilizer up Fw-190 adjustable stabilizer down. Apparently key/buttons won't work. I'm inclined to believe this as it's my experience... but then how is it working for @angus26?
Thad Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Ensure you have no dual applied buttons that may be interfering or canceling out the other key/button.
Yogiflight Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 What I noticed before I had my trim wheel, when I tried to bind it to buttons was, it did not work with buttons on my joystick, but it worked with keys on my keyboard. I have no idea, why.
Art-J Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) ^ Ditto. I know the stab works with keys, 'cause that's how I've got it set up in every sim which has 109 in it and BoX is no exception. I never tried to assign it to buttons, though. Edited August 12, 2018 by Art-J
=X51=VC_ Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 Thanks guys, I double-checked any conflicts and then it started working, with joystick buttons. Those buttons are used for other things, trim on aircraft that don't have the stabiliser, but it seems to be OK with that. For some reason there was a pilot head control mapped, maybe removing that did it. Also mapping it in the first slot not the second, and removing the keyboard buttons mapped to the same function. Or it was just random. 1
69th_chuter Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 As a RL mechanic I was wondering "what the heck could be causing the binding?". ?

I lost elevator control in a 109 on my moscow career this morning, but was able to put it safely on the runway using the stabiliser for pitch control. I did bend the prop though, but I was still quite pleased with myself for mostly succeeding. 1
