I remeber when i first started in IL2 I was flying a sovet aircraft I was wondeing if i decribe it if ayone can tell me what it is and what the likleyhood of having it in the new game is. so

1.it's what i would call a fat aircraft with no top canopy

2. i was not too mernovabe if you doce to gard or tuned to hard it had a habit of stopping

3. i was tough thought and could take a lot of damage

4. it was well armed

5. it was challenged but I loved that aircraft more the life itself.

So doesanyone remebr it or Know what it's called I will try and find a pic if i can.

I found apicture of it ithink it was the Polikarpov I-16 do you think we will see it a base aircraft or a payed downlode? I also found that the Sovet army had Spits and stuff back then

Sounds like the I-16. My favourite too, right after the I-153. ;)

That is an I-16 alright. There seems to be a reasonable chance that it could be included in the BoS as it was in service during the battle, apparently.

Also, the was an exceptionally beautiful I-16 made for Battle for Moscow (shedding a tear here) so if they indeed transform and import some of the BfM models for BoS then they have an excellent basis for getting that plane into the sim.

The I-16, btw, was the world's first monoplane fighter with retractable undercarriage when it entered service in the early thirties. That shows how advanced the Soviet designers were, in many ways, especially regarding aerodynamics, engine development and fighter armament.

Sounds like an I-16, yes, except for the part that it was tough, that doesnt really sound right...

I get the impression that unreleased material is fair game for inclusion in BoS, as it does not attract a claim from Ubisoft as part of their publishing rights to clod.  Fingers crossed.  I know if the I-16 is in, I'll hardly need any other aircraft.

Wow. Great link to some lovely screenshots, Frey. I wonder how much they represent things we will see in Battle of Stalingrad? The planes depicted in the link are beautifully done. So too, the village objects.

I know, I was talking of the real aircraft which was an all wooden construction covered with canvas. The I-16 was very agile and a small target, that was probably its biggest asset, durabilty not being one of its strongpoints. But dont get me started on the Polikarpovs in IL-2... they just have silly DMs like most russian fighters in IL-2

Let's just hope we dont get near indestructible M-105s or "immune to anything smaller than a HMG" delta wood in BoS!

That is unless they put in an accurate FM and firepower for it,  then you'll want something better.  JAT
