109 E7 ammo counter

Why are there zeros in the ammo counters all the time. 

 

Is there an explanation of how the ammo counter works in the E7?

Not in front of my PC but from memory the E7 does not have an ammo counter.

It does have for cannons.

I was thinking the numbers under the 4 red lights had something to do with it.

Not sure what you're looking at, because they plainly indicate 60 rounds per cannon.

If I remember correctly there are four red lights, two for canon and two for mg. LukeFF is correct too but when out of ammo the lights go out. But except for canon, no counter for remaining rounds.

The red lights showed, that the bolt was in its rear position. After the last round was shot, the bolt stayed in front position, so the lights were off. And yes, no ammo counter for the machineguns, like in the 110, too. 1000 rounds usually are enough, to not need an ammo counter.
