I want to confirm I got it right regarding landing (ending a mission)

Successful landing ==> good landing at your home base

Forced landing ==> good landing, but somewhere else (like a friendly base)

Emergency landing ==> plane was damaged during landing

Ditched ==> plane was lost/ severely damaged during landing

is this right?

I think emergency landing comes up even if you make a good landing, but your plane was severely damaged. For example, making a dead stick landing at your own airfield.

You don't need severe damage. Seems that any dead stick landing is considered "emergency". Happened to me a few times that I run out of fuel on my landing approach, so that my engine was already off on touchdown, and although I made a perfect landing in an otherwise healthy plane, the landing was considered anything but "successful".

I wonder what happens if you deactivate the engine and try and make a landing? I may try this tonight to see. It could be as simple as Engine Off, gear down emergency landing.

I guess it's so, but I was too lazy to test it myself. Anyway, I'm curious about your results

Sorry, didn't get to play all weekend. Assembling furniture, chores, ets. Hopefully tonight sometime.
