Just installed BoS and found that the settings options appear to be rather limited, unlike in IL2 1946. Any way to get back those settings, which I find more comprehensive and intuitive? For instance, which is the hot-key to snap my cockpit view back to centre, after having pan to look elsewhere?

Also, for some strange reason, BoS does not detect my Saitek rudder pedals, and thus the Yaw axis could not be assigned.

Two other questions :-

1) Why is it that whenever I fire the guns, the cockpit view automatically zoom closer, and closer, and closer to target? I don't want this feature. And I can't seem to assign the Zoom closer / further action to my joystick (HOTAS Warthog).

2) Why is it that the pitch motion seems to oscillate a lot in game? I set the Pitch curve to 30.

3) Most AI enemy planes just fight in circles, even when set to ACE level. Why?

I am thinking of getting Kuban, but if everything is the same as BoS settings, then I may need further consideration.

Hope someone could help with these.

Thank you.

1) Something is messed up with your control bindings, maybe try to reset to default and try again?

2) I don't really feel any oscillation, then again I don't set a curve.

3) AI is terrible in this game. The AI in this game use the same FM as the player, but have no idea how to fly except turn and split-S, with terrible impact on performance when you have large numbers of aircraft (especially bombers). The AI in 1946 cheated, but at least an idea how to use the aircraft, and also didn't drain performance so you could have 100, maybe more aircraft in the sky comfortably.

Are any of your keys 'double' assigned?

Thanks folks. Will look into this again.

A great pity that the new IL2 series (which have nice graphics) do not use back the same sets of settings that were present in the old IL2 series, which were a lot more comprehensive, and a lot more intuitive to use, and the AI planes fly and fight well too.

Were they more comprehensive and intuitive or are they just familiar to you? ?

BoX initially can feel very simplified coming from other FCSs.

once you get one's head around the differences it's actually rather deep, especially with no assists.

there are some oddities though, like the sensitivity slider working opposite to what one expects.

check those binds. most if my issues have been due to difficulty or bind settings.

More likely that your controls are double-assigned. Select any key assignment. On the right side there’s an icon that looks like two pages on top of the other. Hover your cursor over that. It’ll turn orange and will show which other controls share that keystroke.

You can assign multiple functions on a single key in BoX.

S!

Key binding in BoX is one of the not so well thought out features. Map a function and to your surprise it does not function in another plane, at all. Have to map same functions again and again in order to get them to work. A lot of functionality streamlining could be done in control assignments. Other than that, and some other issues I won't go into, BoX is a quite good and an enjoyable experience.
