Hi EvilLee,

FC1 is a module of IL2, and like all the modules shares the same launcher.

No idea about your VR question.

They really should have changed the name. IL2: Battle Series is a horrible name for a series that might have releases that dont feature the IL2. I know they think IL2 is some indomitable brand name but it really isnt.

This has confused more people than any other game release in memory.

"I bought tank crew but it only lets me download IL2 BoS? How can I play Tank Crew?" LOL

To enable/disable VR on game start there's a tick box in in one of the settings options.

It's being called the IL-2: Great Battle Series.

IL-2 has fantastic brand recognition among WWII flight sim fans. I'm not sure about WWI sim fans and how different those areas might be though I can understand that initially there will be some confusion.

I'm hoping that 1CGS will eventually update their website, launcher, and game icon to help better communicate the layers that the series now has.

IL2 does have great brand recognition and yet.... Tons of people dont know what [edited] is going on with this series because its IL2 and it has several "standalone DLC" that dont include the IL2 or terrain that featured the IL2.

It has brand recognition but it isnt a good name for this brand. Obviously they are not going to change it and they might even have great reason not to change it but it is also causing all kinds of problems with confusing people on what product they are getting and how to play it.

For those 'really' interested, full information is available on this site and in its many forums.

From people form these forums and other forum and discord chats as well as in game with people asking where their game is from inside "bos".

As you've aknowledged, the IL-2 brand name is very well established in combat flight simulation.  I understand that adding a World War One component to a game named Il-2 might push the name out a bit, but I doubt that "tons" of people are getting their panties twisted in a wad over it, or are having trouble understanding.   And if so, maybe this isn't the game for them anyway.   If I were you, I would just be glad they did a WW-1 component at all, and quit worrying about the name of the master series.

"Personally I think FC has been launched a bit  prematurely... imho.

But never mind!"

Well FC has been launched in early access in the same manner as BoS, BoM, Bok, BoBP and TC were/have been so I would not expect a different approach with FC ; two aircraft and all other assets released when ready into early access, with a final full product release

The master series... oh bleeping heck I have heard it all now...

"The rise of flight" I thought was a name that is quite pretty poetic for a game based on warfare...

and

"Flying circus " is just way too Python to take seriously and is missing the THE.

Which would put it on a par with RoF for definite articles if the the THE was included in the kit.

Hello Evillee!

Have you tried RoF it's not VR but it's got more stuff what you can play with. : - )

The forum is a bit of a dive at times but can be quite good value when it's not.

Personally I think FC has been launched a bit  prematurely... imho.

But never mind!

Does FC have multiplayer servers up yet? ( I'm still on the fence...)

Heck look at the time. Must be off... time to get ready to turn in...with my book. : - )

Salute!

Planky.

If the name Flying Circus is good enough for Baron von Richthofen it should be good enough for us :)

Also ... Early Access is how things are done these days. I bought into IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad so early in their Early Access that you could only play for a few days during the week while they had the server up and running and the LaGG-3 was the only aircraft flyable... with no guns. It's come a long way since then obviously and this will too I'm sure.
