First IL-2 buy

Hello ! I'm thinking about buying IL-2 Battle of Bodenplatte but i'd like to know if i'll be able to play multiplayer on any other map even if i don't own the other expansion.

In multiplayer you can play any maps, including those you haven’t bought. There are currently a few servers that allow use of the first few Bodenplatte aircraft. If you plan on buying Bodenplatte only, then you will have a very limited selection of aircraft to use, multiplayer or not.

Yes. You simply won't be able to use aircrafts from other modules. So that basically means you won't be able to play much multiplayer, since BoBp isn't out yet.

If BOBP is still in early access, would the OP be able to play at all without any other version of the game? I'd hate to see him buy it only to not get to play.

As Angus says for multiplayer. In single player you have three small free maps (Velikie Luki, Novosokolniki, Lapino) which can be used for the quick battles mode.

He can, as I am in the same boat. I have just Bodenplatte, Flying Circus, and two collector planes (spitfire and kittyhawk). I can play the game. I have been going onto Coconuts Expert and enjoying my two collector planes in there. In single player I am limited to the quick battles mode though.

I believe the Lapino map is available for everyone. Its rather small, though, but for single player practice it works.

I would not recommend buying BOBP as a first module in its current state. Either buy BoS now and buy BOBP later, or wait until either the BOBP map is released or the module itself is nearly done and is close to release (so you can still take advantage of the pre-order discount)

I would absolutely second that^^^.  By all means, plan on getting Bodenplatte in the future, but if you want the most bang for the buck right now, start with Stalingrad.  It has the Yak-1 s.69, the BF-109F-4, G2, the Pe-2, and an Il-2 variant, all in very wide use on multiplayer servers.

I think i'm gonna do that but instead of buying BoS i'll buy BoK

I also recommend stalingrad as first buy. It has the most ubiquitous usable planeset for mp and sp.

if yo dont have any other and you wont to play in multiplayer i would not recomend geting bobp still, in mp airplanes are not used on most popular servers so you would not be able to fly them, better get BoS like others say as you get there airplanes that are on 90% of online missions, get bobp then when map comes out and MP servers start having airplanes from it.

Is real shame popular servers dont wont to include new airplanes, for now they are wasted if your MP player.

I know that you could always fly the new fighters on the berloga server, they also are available on the Finnish Dynamic Server at certain stages of the campaign.
