SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I have resaved my missions after the update so all play now but this morning I wanted to try my hand in making or altering a mission to something I would enjoy but found when I try to open a mission all I see are blue squares like ocean. No land mass. Is there a step I missed with the resave after the update? Thanks in advance for any help.
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 I have found that some missions do open. Maybe it's pilot error.
Rjel Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 I've struggled with that too. If I start putting in random X-Y coordinates until I end up over land then I can find where I want to go. I'm sure there must be a smarter way to do this. Then again, a smarter mission builder than I would hope to ever be would already know I'm sure. Still struggling creating a simple training mission.
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 (edited) I'm trying and have watched Vapor's you tube tutorial but when I save the mission, it's in the mission's folder but wont show in the list in game. I'm sure I'm making a simple dumb mistake but that's how to learn. I'm so new to BOS and it can be frustrating but I really love the game. I remember starting out with 1946 and learning to make missions and most mistakes were in the naming of the file and so on. I'm think maybe that's what I'm doing wrong here. WHOO HOOO!!! I got one to save. Now if I can only remember how I did it. Edited August 4, 2018 by SAS_Bombsaway 1
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 Well, plugging along and now I can open my mission and mess with it. I am trying to add some ships. Actually I did but now am trying to get the buggers to move.

Click the mini GUI map button on the toolbar (see pg. 196 in the editor manual). 3 hours ago, SAS_Bombsaway said: I'm trying and have watched Vapor's you tube tutorial but when I save the mission, it's in the mission's folder but wont show in the list in game. Yes, I'm now able to open missions. It was pilot error. The Kuban map would open but at its furthest south west point so it looked like nothing but ocean. Thank you for referring to Jim TM's manual. I have downloaded it now and reading intently. Thank you Jim for the manual. I'm trying to learn how to get ships to move. To say I'm a noob here is a huge understatement. SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 (edited) WOW! I love you man! Thank you. Although your comment at the end of " Pretty simple " is like the pilot " you " telling the guy who empties the on board toilet " me " how to fly the plane. I'm sure eventually it will be simple but as a noob for now I'm just huh? Thanks for your help. Edited August 5, 2018 by SAS_Bombsaway
Sketch Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Haha! Sorry, I'm a *insertwordhere* sometimes, and I forget how difficult it was when I started. You'll get it! 1
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 You sir are anything but a *insertwordhere* . Thank you for your help. It's difficult after working with and modding 1946 for years and then start all over with a new sim and look at stuff and feel like Forest Gump. Thanks.
Sketch Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Well, you'll want to take at look at this after you finish the basic ship moving along. Tutorial video coming soon... (I have slow ass upload speeds.) Moving Ships Advanced.zip
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 Firstly, where do I put those files or how do I open them? Again, Forest Gump reporting for duty. Secondly, I would expect slow ass upload speeds from a van by the river. You need to hack the building next to river's wifi. Although, you have no idea how much I miss the river. Went home to Texas for a visit last weekend and got to go to the lake so that was cool.

No buildings near me to hack... I prefer it this way. It's still hot in Texas, good thing I have this river nearby. ^^ Image above is how to import groups in the editor ^^ 1
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 (edited) Hi Sketch. I have been following your instructions to the letter but the ship wont move. I set the ship, create linkable , set Waypoint and connect the two. Then place Timer MCU and set for ten seconds and connect it to the ship's waypoint. Then place Mission Begin MCU and connect to Timer. All are connected. A green line connects the Waypoint to the ship and red lines connect the two MCU's to the Waypoint. The ship does appear in mission but just sits there. I must be missing a step or doing it the wrong order? Edited August 5, 2018 by SAS_Bombsaway
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 I have tried removing the timer and only having mission begin but no luck.
SAS_Bombsaway Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 Thank you Sketch for all your help. I now have my own training mission with the P-40 and a " Japanese " ship who lost it's navigation in the night and came close to shore. I use the mission for take off and landing practice and anti shipping practice. 2
