Walking Soldiers in QMB and Missions

Hi Folks,

If this have been asked before my apologies.

Are walking soldiers / airfield personnel available at airbases in Quick Missions ?, or do they have to be added manually via the Mission Editor ?

Thanks - jg1234

It looks like they are available in the campaigns and some missions I've downloaded from the community, but I assume the designers added those walking soldiers in ?

They are just animations that go with some of the ground objects, the aircraft shelters IIRC - you cannot add them as a separate item.  So if the QMB uses those items the ground crew will be there, wandering around, looking depressed.

You'd be depressed too if all there was to do is walk back and forth. If they had a dog to walk at least they'd have a purpose then.

A dog on the airfield would be good, perhaps as a premium add-on, or add-ons if the devs were to provide a range of breeds. Would provide some extra income....

I have used the depressed airmen as extras in films, so they have some purpose, but a furry friend would provide extra comic potential.

If they could have a rifle slung over their shoulders and walk the dogs, at least it would look like they were on a patrol. It would add some life to the airfields.

I would love to see animated fuel trucks (not just static), some soldiers (with a path that can be edited), maybe a sidecar or those bikes with the halftracks.

Do the walking figures share the same textures as the regular soldier models?  The reason I ask is because they are unarmed and dress like infantry, and wander about like deserters.  If they had uniforms that were more like ground crew they wouldn't look so out of place.

BTW, these walking figures never die and must be zombies, I've dropped bombs (unintentionally) right next to them and they just keep strolling along through the flame and smoke (at least the Russian figures).  Reminds of the the series X-files episodes mentioning the "Super Soldiers" of the future . . . . .

I think ghosts would be a better description since they are incorporeal. At least with zombies if you taxied into one of them you would get a lots of chopped parts flying everywhere.

They have some possibly but not all: the ghosts have soft headgear, unlike the gun crews who wear helmets. But they do have belts with what look like ammo pouches.

Ground crew in FSX is actually a good DLC, would love something like that in IL-2
