I just purchased a set of the AKG K702 headphones, which are absolutely great, but I've found that the TrackIR headphone clip doesn't really work well with them. I've heard lots of good things about the DelanClip, but before I go out and buy something like that, could/would it work alright with these headphones?

I don't have those headphones, but this might give you an idea...

Hi Luke,

I bought a Delanclip quiet a while ago, but didn't like it. I actually fixed my proclip from TrackIR with tape and still use that. The problem with the Delanclip for me was that the light are quite close to the headphone and face while the proclip can be moved outwards to to get a clearer line of sight with the tracking unit.

Interesting, thanks. :) I think I'll go ahead and give it a shot. I just have this feeling my TrackIR clip is going to fail at any time, so I want something better in place and ready to go.

I have the Delanclip, and don't have any issues with it.

I went ahead and placed an order, so I'll soon find out how I like it.

I've been using the Delanclip for nearly a year with no problems. I mounted it more or less the same way as @6./ZG76_ArchieI don't have TrackIR software so use OpenTrack v2.3.9 along with a PS3 Eye webcam and the whole shebang works nicely.

I've got those headphones and a delanclip. The combo works fine I think. The delanclip is bendable, which should solve any geometric attachment issues.

The only issue I have, maybe, not with delanclip product, but with the standard vertical clip geometry in general, is that, with a 27" screen, and being quite close to it:

The center LED is recessed, so there is the issue of mixup of 2 LEDs, front top, and recessed center, when looking down. To minimize this (with the camera mounted on top of the screen) I have my delanclip looking slightly up, which may affect the axis, I'm not quite sure.

The problem can be further minimized in opentrack by using an asymetric pitch mapping.

So, I received my unit in the mail today. As expected, my biggest trouble was finding an acceptable position for the clip. As it was, I used up my one good set of zip ties, so a more permanent setup will have to wait until I pick up some more..

Anyhow, I had a hard time finding an acceptable position with the clip mounted vertically, so in the end the solution was much like the one I had for my TrackIR clip: mounting it up high at an angle. With that setup I can use the clip without having the two upper LEDS interfering with each other.

EDIT: well, that didn't take long - I remembered HerrMurf's recent post about moving the camera down to the lower edge of the monitor. Bingo! With the clip now mounted vertically, the camera picks up the LEDs just fine without any interference.

Awesome, i use the AKG 702 and 701 Quincy Jones Edition a lot, mine still made in Östereich, one of the few remaining HiFi over the ear open ear designs (you can hear around you).

I am getting the Track Clip Pro which should slide nicely over the suspension rails on the left.

I played a lot of TrackIR remotely and the Pro with left screen mounted device did me the best.

Thought and thought about dedicated headset, but what out there could beat a 702(3)/Blue-Yeti-Pro combo? Sennheiser fans shht:)

I'm really liking the 702s - in fact, the reason I bought them was you mentioning them in another topic. :) Sadly, mine aren't made in Austria.

The TrackClip Pro shouldn't give you any problems. It's just that in my case, the clip was pretty well-worn and was probably only a matter of time before the clip failed. I just wanted something newer and that had a good reputation for durability.

No worries, quality should be on par, even the old ones have the headband suspension fail after a while (still held well by the large cups).
