Skipper- Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) 1. How do waypoints work? Can I ignore them and fly to my destination? they do not seem to always activate and move on to the next one automatically 2. What options do I have when out of ammo/ damaged on a mission? Can I return to base and still land and claim victories? 3. What options do I have when out of ammo with the red combat waypoint marker is still active? Can I return to base and still land and claim victories? Edited August 2, 2018 by Skipper-
Yogiflight Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 The waypoints don't have any meaning for you, exept IIRC the one before the target waypoint, which activates the target (Patrick might correct me here), but the AI will follow them. Just ignore them, if you have to return. BTW, you can change them on the PWCG briefing map, if you want, and the flight altitudes, too. The red combat marker can only be form the game itself and has nothing to do with what PWCG counts. I never fly with any like HUD or object marker, so I didn't even know there was one. Of no interest for PWCG. 1
Skipper- Posted August 2, 2018 Author Posted August 2, 2018 Thanks Yogi. I have been flying to the target area without icons but once I get to where I'm supposed to attack ground units, I cannot see anything without labels, especially the units that are hidden in the woods. I'm working on it though... step by step..
PatrickAWlson Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 PWCG tries not to put unrealistic restrictions on mission completion. The mission is complete when you say so, either through landing, stopping the mission in air or crashing. You are not penalized in any way for returning. You are not penalized for not hitting waypoints. You are not penalized for not destroying your target. It's war and things don't always go as planned. PWCG is more about long term survival and success over time than generating missions where you have to do exactly this, that or the other. 2 1

Yeah, I know this very well, quite frustrating sometimes, to watch your comrades attack the ground targets and you don't see anything, especially, when the targets are hidden in woods. But that's war.?

QUOTED Thanks Patrick, PWCG is the perfect tool for me then. Just what I have been looking for. Since reading a few WW2 pilots books, I’ve picked up some tips on how the pilots used to fly (hedgehopping etc) as well as returning to base out of ammo or losing their wingmen or getting lost or baling out and being picked up by another squadron etc etc so it’s hugely refreshing to know that I can use PWCG and fly as I would in real life without being penalised for ‘missing a marker’ or not doing what the computer thinks I should instead of what I would actually do in a situation... Much appreciated.

Much appreciated. Yep, one of the big points for PWCG.
