I’m having a bit of trouble with OTT: First I can’t seem to get rid of the old original version I first downloaded when I first got Rift.It pops up whenever I reboot my PC.I have to cancel it.My most recent OTT version usually pops up next or doesn’t.If it does I can no longer adjust the settings or diminish it to tool bar.It works in game just fine however.If it doesn’t show up I have to re-load it by using the exe. I downloaded when I was told a new version/update was available.When to control box pops up on desktop it too does not allow me to change my presets from previous play but thankfully does work in game.What to do? W old the best solution be to eliminate all versions & start fresh? If so how do I go about doing that? It has so far defied my humble powers.If not this ...then what? Its not a big deal but it will probably prevent me from installing new versions coming down the line.Thanks!

Depending on how old your previous version is, it might not have had an installer. We used to just drop the files in a OTT folder. 

If it had an installer, you should seen an uninstall option under Programs and Features in Windows control panel. If uninstalling that way be sure and select to uninstall all user date/profiles as well - I would also then delete the folder to be safe.

 

If no uninstall option listed there, then you probably just put the files in manually. Should be able to just delete the entire OTT folder in that case.

 

The latest version - 0.83.1, has an installer. Just install it to your choice of destination - I recommend not putting in the program files folders. I put mine in just C:// Oculus Tray Tool.

Also be sure and set the shortcut to the OTT exe to "Run as Administrator".

 

If none of that helps, send ApollyonVR a PM over on the Oculus forums and he should be able to get that sorted for you.

Thanks- have done as you suggest & uninstalled everything, then opened newest 0.83.1 as an administrator.so far so good ,BUT I now have a message box saying OTT starting up ,please wait ,that has gone on for 10 minutes or more...should I just wait before playing sim?

Nope there is an issue, it should start right up - wait should just be a moment or two. If it is stuck on please wait it is not loading.

Send ApollyonVR a message over on the Oculus Forums and include your ott.log file.

He will get you sorted.

 

Might also try rebooting the PC and trying again.
