Trek64Trek64 Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) A long time ago I owned IL2 1946. I dropped it years ago when I couldn't get it to run correctly on my new PC with 4K monitor and all that stuff. I'm interested in getting back into IL2 after reading about Sturmovik, Moscow, Kuban, Flying Circus. The graphics have improved significantly since 1946. Yesterday I purchased the digital version of Sturmovik (figured I should start in order) through the IL2 site instead of Steam. It seems to work just fine on default with my Saitek X55, dual 980s in SLI, but only the default settings seem to be accessible. It is running in 4K, but when I try to access "Key Mapping" so I can tweak the controls beyond basic default settings, what appears to be the key mapping grid appears in the upper left portion of my screen with half of it off-screen. This prevents me from revising the default key mapping for both the keyboard keys and my HOTAS. What do I do about this? How can I access the key-mapping grid? The default is not acceptable. The throttle on my X55 is not programmed to anything. I can't see what the default is for "eject" or "start engine." I can't see any of the default programming. I need to know before I risk investing money into the additional aforementioned titles. Thanks in advance. Trek64 Edited August 1, 2018 by Trek64Trek64 1
RedKestrel Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Never heard of this happening before. Is this only happening on the key mapping page, or is it happening in all the settings pages? Is Il-2 running in full-screen mode or windowed mode? Try switching that if you can to see if that helps. You can also make a support ticket with the team, it could be something that you fix. Also maybe post your system specs, others who use a similar system may be able to help you better.
dburne Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Also insure your game resolution is set to same as your monitor native resolution.
unreasonable Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 You could also try changing the GUI scale in Settings/Graphics. I play on a 4K screen and I use 150% for that. The other thing that has sometimes messed things up, for instane in the Il-2 Mission Editor, is if you have your underlying Windows DPI scaling at a custom setting. You could try changing that and see if it has any effect
Trek64Trek64 Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 Thanks guys! Turns out all I had to do was check the box "full screen" mode. This sim is way cool. I set up first mission for just taxi and take-off. I pressed the E key and all kinds of stuff started happening without further input from me. Eventually the engine started. Wow. I'm not really a hard-hard core sim guy, but I hate arcade flight games. And I never do multi-player (tried it a long time ago with ROF) I just don't have the time to invest to get really good. Sturmovik is so much more involved than I remember 1946 and the graphics have clearly advanced. I hope to be a fairly regular visitor to this forum and learn a lot from you hardcore vets. Gotta buy Moscow, Kuban, Flying Circus, etc.! 1 3

What makes it special or better? https://il2sturmovik.com/store/battle-of-bodenplatte/ Have a nosy at the Bodenplatte page mate, its gives you a bit more info. Its still in development atm,but its going to take us over the skies over western Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium during the winter of 1944 and early 1945. And welcome to the IL2 BOX series..Ive been here since April of this year. There,s a great community here any questions please ask away. I also own BOS and BOM i think that BOK should be next on both mine and your shopping list. The Kuban map looks fantastic..Also some of the mods for this game are fantastic from the "Grass" and flowers mod to the radio chatter. Also there,s some excellent historically correct2k and 4K skins on the mod section also. HTH Adger

Flying over, around and through the mountains is just incredibly thrilling. Take the time to explore while you're flying. You'll stumble onto things every so often that will make you say "wow". Welcome to you both. 1 1
