I grew up with the real sound as my parents in the 70's would set up the screen and the projector to watch home movies. With homemade popcorn. Thanks for bringing that sound back.

Ahah, ?

As I wanted to keep this "raw footage" I didn't want to put music, but you are right it fits perfectly :)

Nice work.   How did you get that look?  I've often wished we had a button for it in our Flight Record playback, just for cool factor.

Thanks,

Hey Ceowulf, you can actually, Just press LAlt+F2 to cycle threw the looks, and then zoom in when you have the camera near the nose, and it looks just like a guncam

Oh, no I was actually talking about the cool black and white, WW2 quality reel film look he got.  Thanks!

Edit:  Maybe I wrote to fast and that's what you're saying.  I've never tried "cycle through the looks."

I use Nero burning program to reproduce the aged B/W look.

You could probably have added more grain and blurred the footage a bit as the old footage always is pretty blurry and grainy.

Otherweise well done!

I have to disagree. I've seen quite a lot of WWII era guncam, both B/W and color that looks like it was shot yesterday. The late war ETO stuff in particular is usually quite good. It also depends on the original source. Much of what we see on Youtube and the like isn't mastered from very good source material generally. Some of the stuff I've watched that is listed as being in HD is laughable. The person who puts it up quite often only stretches the image to fill a wide screen ratio and uses video that often has been posted elseware long before. There are some good quality versions of Fight for the Sky on Youtube. Look for the 41 plus minute version narrated by Reed Hadley, not the shorter version done with Ronald Reagan. While the quality of the guncam sources varies, overall the film looks very sharp.

Havent watched the whole 40 minutes yet but took a look at several different scenes and while the footage in between has very good quality the gun camera footage itself is also very grainy and blurry.

The blur probably comes from the shaking / vibrating of the plane when firing whereas grain is just natural on analogue film.

I know - blur isnt normally something you wanna add on purpose to the footage but in some cases it might add a little to the overall look if not overdone.

In the case of guncam footage maybe a camerashake instead of blurring might add a bit to realism in recreating such footage.

Sometimes CG / digital etc can be too perfect in certain aspects and this is when something sticks out.
