6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 (edited) I have an Acer Aspire V3 772G. i7 Processor with 2.2 to 3.2GHz, 24 GB Ram 1TB Crucial SSD GTX850M Windows 8.1 Professional 64 bit. When I got my new SSD finally running last month, I did a completely new Install of all Games, only carried over my most important stuff from the old HDD, Fresh Install of Windows as well, all Drivers as per Acer Website and Windows Update and the Intel Update Service. Everything is up to date, No Beta Drivers. The Game has however developed two Issues I think are related: Extremely Long Load Times. It takes about 3 to 4 times as long as on my old Setup. I also never had two seperate Loading Screens. The First is either Dimmed, Black or Normal and takes about 2 Minutes, and then a Second one appears with a Red Loading Bar for about 1 Minute. I think the first one is Initilization, and apparently is very slow. When I Tab out of the Loading Screens the game will Load Normally unless I try to Tab in, when I do it takes 10 to 20 Minutes (I timed it, actually made Spaghetti Carbonara and had it for Dinner, and that is just about the stated amount of time). and will then also run at normal FPS. When I tab out of the Welcome Screen it will drop from 800MB Ram Usage (Lowest Graphic Settings) to about 50MB and become inactive. When I go to Details it shows me Two Instances Waiting for a Network Service I/O. The Game basically clears all Ram and I think will take it's Sweet Time to Load everything back in when Tabbing Back in causing massive delay. Any of you experiencing the same Trouble or have any Solutions? I took these consecutive Screenshots of Ram Usage and Inactivity vs. Running. Between 5 the Game ran just fine in the Background, but then in # 6 I tried to Tab in, and it Completely Stopped everything until it had loaded back into the Client. So it basically randomly goes Active when Left Alone for some Time, but takes ages to Change get from Either Tabbed in or Tabbed out, and while taking Ages for that, I cannot do anything else, because it Stops all Keyboard and Mouse Inputs except Ctrl+Alt+Del. ZachariasX Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 G-Data. Try without. Hasn‘t stopped any virus outbreak anyway.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted July 31, 2018 Author Posted July 31, 2018 G Data since 2014, has never been an Issue.
ZachariasX Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 You have il2.exe running with normal or high priority? When I alt-tab out of the game, game „performance“ drops about 90%. Hangar goes to about 5 fps. It really seems like you have something trying to go in the foreground, although your task manager looks clean (besides the snake oil). Strange. Does it both happen when you go through the launcher or just start il2.exe directly?
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted July 31, 2018 Author Posted July 31, 2018 Priotities barely make a Difference, if none. I tried both Steam and Normal Version, Problem still persists. None of my other Games have this Problem, even the notoriously bad ARMA 3. All of them Tab without a Problem or Performance Loss. Only Il-2 has Trouble.
ZachariasX Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Tried to deactivate your firewall and the launch il2.exe?
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Firstly, the behaviour that you describe is not normal. Have you tried a clean clean installation of Windows with only the minimum required to run the game (e.g. graphics driver)? That is the standard method for troubleshooting problems like this. Additional software such as antivirus complicates the analysis by adding many variables. If a clean Windows installation doesn’t fix the issue, you can be quite certain that there is a problem with your hardware.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 I already tried wiping all Drivers and Anti Virus, and running in Safe Mode, no Difference. Once again, everything runs absolutely fine without any Hickups. Il-2 runs Great at 120+ FPS on low and 60 on Balanced/Sharp/4k Borderless. It's only Tabbing that causes the Game to Limb, and it's the only Game that does it. RoF works fine as well and Tabs around normally.
SAS_Storebror Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 A few things you might want to try: Run the game in "windowed fullscreen" mode instead of true fullscreen mode. Basically that's disabling the fullscreen mode and then selecting your screen's physical resolution for the game. Update to Windows 10. Mike
J2_Bidu Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) Is your SSD.more than 2/3 full? SSD's run much slower as they get full. I try not to go much further than 50%. Edited August 1, 2018 by Bidu Spellcheck
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 In Win 8 you have to run Windowed Borderless or Windowed, I never run games in Fullscreen, because then the same Issue arises in the other games as well or they simply don't allow you to Tab out as well. My 1TB SSD is 2/3 Free, I have a vivid hatred for Win 10 and its dehumanizing user friendliness.
J2_Bidu Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) I have no idea what's happening, but if virus is excluded try running the game as Administrator just to exclude privilege problems with something in your machine. It's a far shot, but cheap. Edited August 8, 2018 by Bidu Spelling
