HagarTheHorrible Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I really wouldn't have fancied my chances. If this is what I had been issued with to beat gas attacks, I would have thought my bosses were either a bit desperate or having a laugh at my expense. Hopefully Jerry would have killed himself laughing. Just picked this up at work, for those of you who don't know it is a WW1 British PH gas mask, issued to a Capt MacLeod in 1916. For me, it is an object that somehow epitomises WW1, especially as it was a gas attack that killed my Great Grand Uncle (if that is correct, my great grandfathers brother). He was gassed in 1917, but didn't die until 1921 so no hero's memorial for him, I wonder how many suffered the same indignity.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Wow! That is one very nice (or very horrifying) piece!
