G_GART Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) This MOD (only BOS and BOM) will adjust the glowing effect of the navigation lights, not tested for all planes, but if they use the same textures will work for all. for installation please see read me file. unreasonable Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 I will give that a try in my current career. The Christmas lights have always been a bit strange.... thanks! 1
Semor76 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Looks good. It is possible to dimm the Nav Lights to 0 or close to it?

G_GART Posted July 30, 2018 Author Posted July 30, 2018 2 hours ago, Semor76 said: Well, then I like to request it ? I do not think it's a good idea! Firstly, reducing the glowing effect more than this or to 0 gives cosmetic effects to your aircraft models even if the navigation lights are not lit and during day light too! (the light bulb of the aircraft will disappear and it will be replaced by a black dot, it will also affect the landing light effected if viewed from certain angles). Because the game also uses this textures for the vehicles (and maybe tanks too) it will affect the back and headlight's glowing effect even on the vehicles as well! It can cause other abnormalities and cosmetic effects if the game uses this textures in other contexts as well (as said, this Mod is not tested on all aircraft and other contexts that game may use these textures). Despite these if you still request it, so i can make it for you!
unreasonable Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Tried this and very much prefer it to vanilla - thank you. Compared to the screen shots in your opening post the lights are more visible in my game, I expect that varies a lot depending on the PC graphics set up. But they no longer have anything like the halo effect or glare that the vanilla lights have, so you can actually see the aircraft as well as the lights. Highly recommended.
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 S! Much more authentic than the vanilla effect is. Well done.
E69_Chipi Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 NICE MOD!!! I don't take Devs' work lightly, but I think this is one on the few aspects of the game in which they are way off about how the nav lights are seen from other A/C, specially during the day. This toned down light look much better. Recommended
TG-55Panthercules Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I'm so glad you were able to do this. This was one of my top priority mods on my wish list, and I took an early run at it as soon as mods on mode became available, but was unable to find the right mechanism for it. Since then, I've been away from my BoX PC so haven't been able to keep trying, and now it looks like you've saved me the trouble - thanks!
vonGraf Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 When I saw the original navigation lights from far away the first time, I thought it's a barrage balloon. It's much better now.
FoxbatRU Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 (edited) It seems to me that the mod in after the patch stopped working at long distances. Or is it a problem of interaction with other mods? Edited October 27, 2018 by FoxbatRU

My mod works fine with last version, (attached pic. from latest version of game, offline BOS) you may manipulated the game original files!! don't know. 1
Bert_Foster Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Great mod should be taken on board by the devs... the current Nav lights in game are ridiculous. 4
Bert_Foster Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 (edited) This is what Nav lights look like on in Daylight ... even in a hangar these on my Nanchang CJ6 Edited December 30, 2018 by Bert_Foster
BornToBattle Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 So this mod will get rid of that huge ball of glowing gas that shows especially during the day when nav lights are turned on and seen from a distance? Nearby they are fine, it’s only when the distance increases that they suddenly turn into glowing orbs of whiteness. I had a mission in career mode in the P-40 escorting A-20’s to their target. Upon return off in the distance it looked like a bright white glob approaching. I was praying that it wasn’t an A-20 with nav lights on and low and behold. I went through the same weird looking effect in MSFS too at times.
vonGraf Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) I had the impression the position lights are again much too big/light after the last update and using this mod. Edit: Sorry, it's ok. The reflecting sunlight was fooling me. Edited October 7, 2019 by vonGraf

As an observer of aircraft in all weathers and times of day, I think the design have got this right. They are blobs of light at distance but as you get close they reduce to green, red or white and gives an indication of the aircrafts orientation in relation to you the observer. The lights are the best I've seen in any sim.
