Panthera Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Just learned that this, very important feature is still missing from the game, which I really feel like is a grave mistake by 777, esp. now with the release of Flying Circus. In Flying Circus' predecessor, Rise of Flight, each aircraft has such wildly different control responses that the ability to apply different joystick response curves for different aircraft was/is an essential feature for an enjoyable experience in that game since these early aircraft came with no form of in flight trimming capability. And since it's been said that the FM's from RoF have been directly brought over into FC, I really would've thought the addition of different joystick response curves for separate aircraft would have to come with it. Sadly however it seems that it didn't. 1 1
Immortal Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I fully agree. As mainly a DR1 specialist for 7 years in ROF, the unique characteristics flying the DR1 required me to adjust the middle section of the pitch curve 40% down to enable quick flip and tight left turns with the DR1 and after much practice to master the DR1 in dogfights it gave the dedicated and practicing pilot in a specific plane the ability to achieve an advance above the general pilot. In FC the DR1 feels too easy. It doesn't feel like it require much practice to master, it turns just too easy to the left and right tight flips, which of course would be necessary if no response curve tuning is available - so everyone could fly the plane without too much effort. I would like to see the unique flying characteristics implemented and the abiity to adjust the response curves for those special maneuvers.
SharpeXB Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Yes this is a very much needed feature for Flying Circus. Here’s a really informative post about the issue from 777. I think this was written before the feature was added to RoF https://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/2564-about-wrong-elevator-position-and-pitch-sensitive/?p=22055 The basic problem you encounter flying the WWI aircraft is that you can’t utilize an “S” curve on your joystick without creating a custom curve. What i I also really hope for, is that since the FMs are the same in FC as RoF is that our curve files could be copied over. That would be really great.
SharpeXB Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Bump... I hope we get a menu like this when FC is further developed.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Same here! X-Plane 11 is getting it too in the next update. Rise of Flight has it too. DCS... We need this, really!
ZachariasX Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 In FSX / P3D you have the tool FSUIPC that lets you customize all inputs to match your peripheral devices. There is a lot of good of individually tweaking an axis. For instance there is absolutely no reason why a throttle axis with thrust reversal (or brakes!) must be similar to an elevator axis. I understand the competitive mindset of a sim pilot, but even without this menu item and „all input are treated equal (for players)“, it is not a level plying field. Someone with a better joystick and extension will have an advantage over someone with just a smaller desktop stick. These curves can actually in part lever out some the advantages mediated by a stick extension.
Panthera Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 Hey, just wanted to ask wether this feature has been added yet? Haven't played the game for almost half a year now, thus I was wondering. Still think it's a must have feature, esp. if the WW1 aircraft to be enjoyable like in RoF.
Matt Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 No it's not been added unfortunately. Desperately needed imho.
=RS=Stix_09 Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 BUMP , Is this feature still not added to FC like it was possible in ROF? and why the hell not????
Grajo Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 This is needed also in BOx. Great initiative. I hope that it gets implemented at some point. Is really annoying to be tweaking curves depending which plane I am going to fly, even more noticeable between bombers and fighters...
FA_Bong Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I should have dug a little deeper I just posted about this, rather disappointing that this isn't included.
