Trooper117 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Great stuff... very excited by this game!
6S.Manu Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) There are other games with this kind of modulable behaviors: Skyrim and its predecessors had it, but also Th Witcher Series and probably Gothic I think.I hope he devs are going to insert something new beyond "job" modules... something like the "Crusader Kings 2" trait system would be awesome. Just think about the replayability having those random traits at every new game: the same NPCs could be loved or hated and don't behave in the same way every time. Edited February 13, 2014 by 6S.Manu
Trooper117 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Well, I've played Skyrim for ages, loved it... in fact still playing it. But I've always wanted either a medieval or Roman rpg game (Roman would be better) on Skyrim lines. 1
Emgy Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Wow, and with this quote On top of that, we are developing our own proprietary RPG-MAKING TOOLS for easy development of this and any future content, including custom support for game design, animations, branching dialogue, clothing definitions, etc. We plan to release these tools to the modding community. I expect there'll be some fantastic mods and total conversions for this game, I look forward to that as much as the main game. Edited February 13, 2014 by Calvamos
Finkeren Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Holy cow! This just keeps getting better and better. I'll have to sell one of my kidneys to help fund this.
Finkeren Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 The size of the map is a bit of a downer, but if the gameplay is as deep and detailed, as they seem to indicate, then it will somewhat compensate. The first 2 Gothic games were awesome despite the very small size of the world, because there was so much to do and many choices to make, much of which is standard in RPGs now, but which felt brand new back then. Gothic only started to suck, when they tried to move up to a huge Elder Scrolls-esque world. 1

=LD=Hethwill Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Maps are as small as the options and liberty you are given. From all the updates, especially the last one on NPC system i'm convinced the replayability can be immense. Plus don't forget it will have Modding full support.
Finkeren Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That settles it. When I find a better paying job, the first thing I do is.... Well the first ting I do is repay my debt to this community by gifting away a few copies of BoS (I was gifted the premium edition by a very friendly soul and would like to pass on the favor) But right after that I go buy into this project.
Rama Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Yes, the updates were quite convincing. I increased my first pledge a bit... and considering to increase it a bit more.
sturmkraehe Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I am more and more enthusiastic about this project.
Emgy Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 this popped up in my youtube feed: gameplay livestream in 37 minutes 1
Blooddawn1942 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 This game looks outstanding! A believable medieval world without any phantasy nonsens. I will absolutely get this one, once it is released. looong route ahead until 12/2015....
MarcoRossolini Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 It's raised a million pounds as well, not half bad at all (considering it was looking for 300,000), they've been able to add tons of other stuff too with that money, I never expected the amount of money they got (but then. what do I know?)

"Dungeons and NO dragons" is actually an attractive slogan. Many RPGamers like me are really tired with high-magic fantasy setting. Many want realistic and historical worlds.
Emgy Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Well, the devs have a good track record and the gameplay shown in the KS video was very advanced and polished. And no direct competition in this genre, I call it... MnBCWAtmR (Mount n Blade Combat with Witcher type Atmosphere but more Realistic), you can get used to this term now because it's gonna catch on I tell you! Edited February 20, 2014 by Calvamos 1

steppenwolf Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This video shows some content I'd not seen before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adjMWzLDSRk
Volkoff Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Wow! That is simply amazing looking! Thanks for the heads up, Zoring! MJ
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 As an old Medieval reenactor, I am impressed with the effort to make an actual world, where the farmers farm, the fishers fish, the sheep are munching grass and the peasants drink and play backgammon in the pub in the evening!
FlatSpinMan Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 This just looks so well done. Its not really my type of game but I'm going to try it anyway, I think.
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Nope, 9 km2 is the full world (for act I, nothing is said for the sequels... if any), and that's what they call "huge". It's writen black on white: "Cryengine allows us to quickly create huge areas of landscape. The world covers approx. 9 sq km2 (3.5 sq. miles), with a sprawling city, vast forests, majestic castles, and dozens of villages and hamlets devastated by war." Moreover, you don't get anything but Act I, for pledges below dukes (200$). So until Earl Pledge (100$), the "huge" 3km x 3km world is all you'll get. No need to guess when everything's is clearly written. I don't think I understand how you can have a sprawling city, vast forests, multiple castles and "dozens" of villages in a map that small. I wonder if it is a typo.
Uufflakke Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I wonder if it is a typo. I don't think it is a typo. Unfortunately. It is also visible in the image below and according the scale it really seems 3x3 km. In best circumstance you start at the corner of the map so you can walk (or ride on horseback) somewhat more than 4 km in a straight line diagonally. But graphics are awesome. Really worth to keep an eye on the game.

I wonder if it is a typo. they're doing things in realistic scale, so things are going to be natural. most open world games have pretty much brainwashed everyone in regards to scale. you don't need a huge map like just cause, all you end up with is a bunch of empty space that you have to traverse over with a freaking jet anyway. detail is of course sacrificed there, and landscape has to be manipulated, it cannot be natural.
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Well, I'm in either way. I seem to be buying into a lot of early releases / in development games lately.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Considering you will either travel by foot or by horse, it will take you from 10 minutes to a half an hour to cross the map diagonally, if you can cross it in a straight line. My guess is realistic travel time across the map on foot will be about an hour, which is more than enough for me.
Finkeren Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Well, I'm in either way. I seem to be buying into a lot of early releases / in development games lately. Me too LOL. I actually think it adds something to the experience. Plus it just feels right to support projects that pulls in the right direction.
Matt Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The map size is just fine imho. Better to have a small area with lots of stuff around than a big empty desert. I'm curious how they plan to keep players busy for long though. Quests seem to be strictly limited (quality over quantity, which is good) and even though they promise different ways to finish these quests, that doesn't mean that it will interesting to do them more than once, especially if the outcome is the same. That's one of the biggest issues i have with recent RPGs. You perhaps get the options between stealth and fighting but if the outcome is the exact same, there's little interest for me trying both options.
