Can't deselect streamer in Quick Mission

I can't deselect streamer in Quick Mission, the version where you can have 2 flights vs 2 flights. I just get a blue streamer every time regardless of the fact that no streamer is the option selected.

 

It's appears to affect all the flight leaders, making me think it's hard set in the base mission. 

 

Anyone else seen this, or know a way to deselect the streamers, is it meant to be like this or is it a bug?

It's meant to be like this, as the streamer denotes flight leader.

Even in the ME if you create a formation, the flight leader will have a streamer even if you set it's options to "none" in the properties box.  It is so that the AI knows who to follow.

Ok thanks, that's what I led myself to think, but was hoping it wasn't the case as I'm not a big fan of the streamers.

Set your wingmen as a separate fligth, then. Have someone else fly with steramer.

True, that's about the only option that works, even if it sort of defeats the purpose of wanting to lead the squad without the streamer.
