Today I am getting a Dserver error that reads 'Unhandled SIM thread message: 60' when opening a brand new mission that I've just finished building. This does not appear to affect how the mission runs, but I just wondered what is going on? This does not appear to happen if I open the same instance of DServer with one of my old practice missions that has been re-saved since the patch.

I think before cluttering the Bug Reports Sub-Forum with further unformatted, 0-information "fire & forget" posts, it would make sense at least to waste 10 seconds for a quick peek at existing bug reports, wouldn't it?

Cheers!

OK - so after you've spent your 10 seconds looking what did you come up with? I searched that exact EM both on these forums and on Google and came up with nothing. I'm not in the habit of posting needless rubbish just for the heck of it and I really don't appreciate your personal attacks on posts that I do make. I would thank you to not comment negatively on my posts. If one has nothing nice to say, the best advice is to say nothing.

You seem to forget that the whole purpose of this sub-forum is for TECHNICAL ISSUES  and bug reports. I would say that an EM in the Dserver counts as a technical issue and is a perfectly valid post here.

Sure, it does count as such.

There's just two more threads about it and they're both hidden deeply on the first page of this sub-forum:

Of course this perfectly entitles you to vent your frustration against me, tell me where I'm allowed to reply and where not etc...

I'm sure the devs will be happy to monitor a third thread for you, while you couldn't be bothered to find the two others right in your face.

Cheers!

Firstly thanks for the links - though neither of them says anything more than that others are experiencing the same issue. I am not sure why they did not show up during a forum search, but I assure you that they didn't when I searched.

Secondly you obviously seem to have an issue with me as this is not the first time that you've taken a pot shot at one of my post. I would appreciate it if rather than sniping, you just either ignore my posts if they annoy you that much or at least respond in a polite manner. It was the manner of your first response that annoyed me so much. As I said before - if one has nothing nice to say, the best advice is to say nothing'.

Don't worry, I don't have an issue with you.

Maybe you've managed to trigger this kind of response more than once, maybe - I don't keep track of it.

The reason for my reply was that threads like this contribute to the chaotic clutter of the Bug Report Forum, which in turn contributes to the devs not keeping track of it as much as we all would love them to.

The more threads for the same issue are being opened up and the less people are bothered to stick to the well formatted and moderated bug report threads, the worse the situation will become.

That's why. Nothing more, nothing less.

Cheers!

Some more information that may be helpful.

1. When the mission was hosted last night this error did not seem to make the Dserver in any way unstable and it did not crash. I therefore believe that this is not directly connected to the two issues linked above in which the main issue appears to be crashing Dservers although the same symptom is evident.

2. Map is the Kuban map with all towns, airfields and bridges imported.

3. Map is based off a template basic map that I created before the patch and re-saved afterwards before building the actual mission on it. Template contains a front line, several AAA sites for each faction and two player spawn points

4. Mission is fairly simple - as well as the above it consist of four flights of AI aircraft with activation at various points during the mission, five target trains, and several static fuel trucks. There are subtitle announcements for trains and vehicles destroyed as well as a counter for the vehicles.

I hope that this helps in some small way.

I think the issues are connected indeed.

We've had serious issues on sunday evening, when the server crashed multiple times after less than 20 minutes into the mission.

Without changing anything (just restarting DServer.exe every time it crashed) all of a sudden DServer.exe ran well for about 39 hours, while the "Unhandled SIM thread message: 60" messages first appeared less frequently and then finally stopped appearing altogether.

10 hours ago, all of a sudden both reappeared at the very same time: Both the crash, and the frequent "Unhandled SIM thread message: 60" message.

To me this looks like it's got nothing to do with the local Server that runs DServer.exe, but rather something in the communication to the Master Server.

But that's just wild guessing, because we don't have any meaningful logs here unfortunately.

Strange, as I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever with Dserver stability. I admit that our mission servers are up for a maximum of around 3 hours at a time. We host on one of two machines and neither has experienced any instability so far, although both reported the unhandled SIM thread message.

It would be handy if at some point someone could indicate what that actually means.

Thank you both for your efforts :drinks:

Next update on the issue:

Server operated stable for another 12:30 hours, then 7 hours ago it crashed once more.

What's interesting to see is the timing of the "Unhandled SIM thread message: 60" messages.

They're not inevitably causing a crash, that's plain to see.

On the other hand, if they occur, they can occur massively, like right before the first rotation, where 25 of these messages appear within 2 seconds.

Too bad the feedback on our efforts to tackle this issue is inexistent.

This would be a great opportunity to improve customer care.

Server Operators are prone to be a tad more tech-savvy than "John Doe" is, devs are missing an opportunity to get a lot of help here.

Not to mention the disseminator effect of server issues on the perceived quality of the game.

Hi All

Has there been any movement with this thread message? I have looked around but cant find any other reference to it.

Eh... no.

Still happening on my Dserver missions too.

Same thing here.

Long time since our DServer actually crashed, but the SIM Thread messages are still there.

Having this happen also. Not as many as you, but get 8 lines or so of the unhandled error. Co op mode... so it's not just Dogfight stuff.
