andyw248 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 If you want to read some free material about the Battle of Stalingrad in general, and Operation Uranus specifically, there are a some good links. But before you read about these events, you probably want to get some idea about the "Eastern Front", specifically the air aspects. For a basic understanding of Soviet strategy, and of the course of the war from a Soviet perspective, it's valuable to learn something about Georgy Zhukov: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhukov. A history of Germany's Luftwaffe operations, with large chapters about the Eastern Front, can be found at: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/AAF/AAF-Luftwaffe/. Some good material about Operation Uranus is at: http://www.stalingrad.net/russian-hq/operation-uranus-detailed/operation-uranus-detailed.htm http://www.stalingrad.net/russian-hq/operation-uranus/rusopuranus.html http://www.stalingrad.net/russian-hq/operation-uranus/russtrength.htm and of course http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_uranus with good maps http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=1661 3
