My game runs smoothly, but when I look around, my trackIR movement is jerky when I look around.

GTX1070 and Ryzen 1600 here with 16 G RAM. I have vsync on.

Any advice please?

Have you tried adjusting settings within TrackIR itself?

Namely smoothness and speed come to mind - I think I have smoothness somewhere around 20-30 points and speed set to the default.

TrackIR is fine in all other games, and if I alt tab out and check the movement in the app it's smooth. Only in BoX does it stutter when moving around.

Have you actually checked the framerate? It may appear to run smoothly until there is fast motion (e.g. looking around).

You don't use a force feedback stick by any chance? Many people mentioned issues related to that.

By default, TrackIR should have few problems.

It really runs smoothly. I do use a MS FFB2 - please don't tell me it's not compatible :(

Bingo. As soon as I disable FFB, it becomes smooth. What a bummer... I hope there is a solution coming for this one.

Some people experience stuttering with the TIR/MS FFB combo. There are whole threads about it, see e.g.

Known issue I'm afraid. :( I have a MS FFB2  but don't  really suffer like some others I've seen on you tube after experimenting with different settings.

      Input noise filter  =  0

      Camera smooth = 100

      Track Ir   speed = 1

                      smooth = 30

Your mileage and preference may differ but on my system with these settings it's pretty smooth.

If you running a system capable of producing 70-80 frames without vsync you may drop very temporarily below the vsync  (im assuming you on a 60 hz monitor) when you move the view especially in busy scenes. . It may not show on a frame counter but may just be enough for a couple of frames to induce the stutter.

In past I found reinstalling the game after a big patch removed the head truning stutter I was experiencing (but not always)

Same with re-shade - I found the system was more prone to those kind of stutters with reshade but this could have been related to small hit in fps that bought me lower to the vsync cut.

As Sniperton points out many have experienced this and I think one member has perhaps pinpointed the fault too.

You may try increasing the smoothness in the game setting to 100% or turning off force feedback in the same place to see whast effect it has (obviously you can fly like that but its an easy fault finder).

Tanks bzc3lk, that mostly solved it. I had my input noise filter set to 0.007. Now that it's set to 0 it's much better.

Good to Know M8. :drinks:  Hadn't flown my modded Rof for at least 12 months until I started to compare the Dr1 with the flying circus version and I'm sorry to say Bos has taken a short hiatus while my true  love in aviation and I get re acquainted.

I haven't noticed a jerky TrackIR in the pilot's seat, but I seem to be getting a slight delay (probably less than 1/2 a second) in the gunner's position. I did experience a bigger delay in the gunner's position once; I can't remember if it was after the update or not. I'll need to try some more rigorous testing. My specs are below.

I find the gunner's seat to be nausea-inducing so I wonder if a small delay can do that (I know a large one can) or if flying backwards is doing it?

UPDATE:

I looked at my TrackIR and mouse response in the three view modes for the gunner position. Here's what I found:

  - Gun stowed: Mouse response n/a and TrackIR response good

  - Take control of gun: Mouse and TrackIR response good

  - Nestle to gunsight: Mouse response good and slight TrackIR delay that appears to be about 1/4 or 1/2 second, which I find nausea-inducing

I find that I need to pause TrackIR while in the "Nestle to gunsight" view mode to avoid discomfort.

If you see the issue again and your fix above doesn't solve it, try restarting your TrackIR and then restart your game.

Other than the delay issue I experienced in the gunner's seat (update above), I had a couple of occasions recently where I experienced a noticeable delay but not jerkiness in TrackIR. Once I restarted TrackIR and the game, the problem was gone.

I use Nvidia Adaptive V-Sync (vsync in game turned off) and this massively improved my smoothness, including with the TrackIR.  Additionally, before every session, I go into Task Manager and bump up the Priority level of the TrackIR process by one notch, to Above Normal, I think it is.  This gives the TrackIR process a few more CPU cycles.
