Has anyone tried external software for joystick response curves?

A quick search brought up this https://www.xedocproject.com/joystickcurves.html which if it does what is is supposed to should solve the problem of not currently being able to set curves for the FC aircraft. Has anyone tried it, or anything similar? I'll probably give it a go myself when I get the chance, but I'd appreciate any feedback.

(Note: I'm not interested in starting a debate here on whether such software is 'cheating', or 'unrealistic'. It is out there. As are joysticks with drivers that can do the same thing. And joysticks with mechanical trims. Even if you don't consider it appropriate, there really isn't much that can be done about it. And at the end of the day, if it works, it isn't offering anything that RoF didn't already have.)

I did manage to setup curves using UJR / UCR - albeit basic ones.

If it uses virtualjoystick it could work.

I want to add one tangential point which is when I recently switched from my beloved MSFFB to a Mongoose T50 with an extension , all curves became totally unnecessary.  I realize that’s no help to anyone who just wants curves but for info the extension is much nicer to me.    (Minus the $$$)

I've managed to get the software linked in my original post running, and it seems to do the job. I'll need to test it more though, to be sure there aren't any issues. When I'm happy with it, I'll explain how to set it up - I had to edit input/current.map by hand to get it to recognise the virtual joystick driver, and the JoystickCurves application doesn't work quite the way I expected.

EDIT: On further testing, I've discovered a serious issue with the way JoystickCurves does 'trim', making it useless. I may try to contact the developer, but first I'll see if there are any alternatives available.

@Plank:

I've no idea why Picasim is relevant. And no, telling me where to find a setting I've already used doesn't help. The trim is bugged, and doesn't work properly, as I've already said. I was going to report this on the JoystickCurves forum, but I can't register because the Captcha isn't working.

A simple question, Plank. If you set up JoystickCurves with a linear response and a 50% trim offset, when you move the input from one extreme to the other, does the output also move smoothly from one extreme to the other? Because it doesn't for me. Moving the input (from the stick) in the opposite direction to the trim offset is fine,  but when you move it in the same direction as the trim, it moves rapidly to the limit, before snapping back to about halfway from the original offset to the limit, and then going back to the limit as the input reaches maximum.

Edit: You need to test it with 'preserve axis range' selected.  Without this, you can't get full movement on the output.

I've got no curve at all. It is set up for direct input-output response, which it does perfectly as long as there is no trim offset. Have you tried the test I've described?

I set setup max curves ingame (100% Sensitivity setting)
I tried to set also more of a curve in Control software for my pedals (as they too touchy)
But the 2 Curves (external and ingame) Conflicted and made my controls digital
No deflection till more than half pressed then it was instant full deflection.

Now i dont even install X55 software just the drivers and use ingame curves only.
They are already pretty extreme non linear curves,

@Plank

Your 'curve' is a direct response one, like mine (assuming you have set it to the 'value' response modifier via the right click menu). This isn't an issue with the curves, or it wouldn't only show up when a trim offset is selected. Have you got 'preserve axis range' selected?

We aren't discussing X55 software.

Hello.

My posts have been "merged" I hate that...

Uncheck: "preserve axis range".

You should be good to pre flight check!

No, I'm, not going to uncheck 'preserve axis range'. The whole point of this exercise is to get best use of a joystick while correcting the neutral setting, and doing it that way limits the elevator movement.

Either was i ? , that was just example.

Anyways ill keep eye on this for my mate who has very old stick with low Resolution that needs more than 100% Curve ingame (sensitivity) .
But also Logitech software interferes with his ingame curves :(, so ill tell him to try this program.

If you uncheck that you will get what you want.

Try taking my advice.

Since it has become apparent that you are incapable of actually offering help (which requires reading what I've written), I am adding you to my ignore list.

If there is anyone else reading this that wants to help with the specific subject (which is getting the JoystickCurves software to work in a way that offsets the stick neutral point while otherwise keeping full linear response from the stick), please do so.

If people want to go on about response curves in general, I suggest they find another thread. There are enough of them already.
