Don't restrict yourself to the Pacific Ocean Areas if you want to imagine the Asiatic-Pacific-Theatre without Grumman aircraft.

That's very true,  specially if we move away from carrier based planes. In fact we pretty much would only have to use planes we already have now,  on the allied side at least.

please one Ki-43, 44 or 61 for me

Yes, I was going to mention the Oscar, too. There was a company building full sized Ki-43's, a few years back. I saw at least one that they had turned out. Looked authentic, except that the canopy seemed to sit a bit high to me. So, theres info on the Oscar, too. We don't need every Japanese airplane that flew during the war. A couple of fighters and a bomber and I'd be thrilled.

Same for me: for fighters I prefer the IJAAF one's, more variations between Ki-27s, Ki-43s, Ki-61/100s and Ki-84s. The only variants of Zeroes that I am interested in are those late war ones along the N1K.

On the other hand I love the various bombers, dive bombers and torpedo bombers that are in the IJN inventory...

To me it is not the map specifically that is of interest, but the history and how muchh I want to fly a specific plane I read about. I would love to fly RAF DC2 and C 47´s over Burma. I would also like to fly Devastator and Kate in Midway , I like to fly Beufighter, B 25 and A 20 over the jungle hunting Japanese ground targets. A occasional dive bomb on a carrier and land in a carrier. Having carriers in a mp server means the fighters need to protect a small area and will hopefully se the importance of escort so enemy Carriers can be sunk. There is so many different way to fly in all this area of conflict

Defending the bases at Truk against US carrier forces would make for some interesting gameplay and would be a map that would work with both early and late war aircraft.

I hope we see an equal number & type of Japanese aircraft to those we get with the US or other nations or the "thrill" would be somewhat one sided.

As a Dutchman, I would think you would be all in for Java, and all the cool aircraft the ML-KNIL flew, add P40s and the B17s (one can dream) that came to try to defend the NEI and you have the basis of one of the great "forgotten battles".

If you read the book Hurricane Over the Jungle by Terence Kelly an English RAF pilot who was caught up in the fighting over Singapore, Sumatra & finally Java before winding up in captivity, you will find an interesting 1st hand account of the air fighting that took place over Java at that time. It offers a somewhat different perspective to official accounts.

Good book, I highly recommend reading if you get the chance.

It would actually make for a fantastic career in BOX, as No 258 Squadron RAF was made up of not only British pilots, but Americans, Australians & Kiwi's too, probably more nationalities, been a while since I last read it.

But we have yet to see a campaign in BOX where the Axis forces win...time for one of those I'd say, as it's no fun always being on the winning or loosing side and most people fly Axis or Allies exclusively...but I digress :)

I have to say that the map is actually the key to the story for me. Having been in the pacific area (including some actual historical fighting grounds like Saipan), I was extremely disappointed with the way the whole geography was depicted in "Pacific Fighters". It didn't really look like the real thing (Hawaii was a mess - didn't even remotely look like the real deal) and thus the Immersion lacked. Now bear in mind that some of that was down to the limitations of the game, but still many maps looked like a lackluster job.

The Appeal about the pacific theater is the "hammock between the palmtrees"-flair. But that Needs some map-builders with some love and dedication for the area.

Did somebody say "Do 24"? ?

I’d love to implement some Coastwatchers radio calls in the briefing.

”24 bombers with escorts headed yours”

That would require a few thing though which I have fingers crossed for.

I sailed there for years, to me I can only remember some places, there is no way I can take in this area in one or thousand breath. I relate to the huge distances and navigational problems , but that is it. To me the pilots stories play in my head and make the flying intresting

Yep - it's pointless to even mention Africa on this forum at this juncture.

Who knows, someday?

Not any time soon.
