Smoking and Burning Planes

I have noticed that ever since 3.005  in MP planes appear to be smoking or even bruning, when in fact they are fine. A very perculiar incident happened to me on WoL where I saw a bruning Russian plane flying for about 6 min after I lost sight. When I checked the recording it was actually not buning and flying fine.

This bug is extremely unsettling because you many a) not engage planes that are actually just fine b) might not think planes that are fine are still a threat and c) You can spot these planes very very easily

People I was flying with, reported the same problem

Now i understand what i saw last night:

Two planes were circling over the airfield - one was burning badly - and i was wondering; why this guy is not trying to land, what is he waiting for?

It may be a bug.

I had an instance where a 109 starting leaking oil for 10 seconds, then stopped, then restarted to leak and then it restopped leaking etc. Was kinda mad because I thought "his engine is dead, i can focus the other guy" while he was in fact in perfect shape

Yes it's definitely a bug.  I can confirm seeing a perfectly fine A-20 pouring black smoke.  Maybe it was trying to cover up the bugged nav light (that didn't get fixed this patch) that follows 20 yards behind the A-20 in mid-air...

Yesterday, two of us on comms saw a bandit belching smoke, but the guy most closely engaged with him swore up and down that he wasn't, leading us to believe that we were looking at different fights.  But it was the same fight, and then the bandit stopped smoking, but then started again.  So this puzzled us, but now it sounds like the same thing that is being referred to here.
