Bodenplatte Voiceovers

If I'm not mistaken, Bodenplatte was mainly a battle between the RAF and the Luftwaffe, yes? Does that mean we'll be getting English voiceover for radio chatter? :).

“Voiceover” is not really the correct term, but yes, we should get both British and American radio comms.

You are mistaken. Il2 Bodenplatte features the timeframe from 9/44-3/45, so you get british and american voiceovers.

“It’s close!” Needs to go away forever.

 

With the the help of a few volunteers I’m prepping the American radio calls for the P-47 scripted campaign as we speak.

I’m gambling a bit that I’ll have a way to shut off the stock/native radio calls in the campaign config/text file.

Even in English, it won’t do to have incorrect call signs, the wrong voices etc stepping all over the custom calls.

Honestly, they would do best to take this opportunity to completely redo the radio comms. Recording British and American voice work to just copy the current system would seem wasteful.

I agree.  The last time I played a career mission, it was a bomber escort over the Stalingrad map.  We got intercepted by 109s on the way out, and one of the AI began banging on about how he was engaging the enemy and it's close.  I figured this time I'll keep count and see how many times he can do it.  He repeated the same phrase 234 times before I was brought down by flak.  :dash:

Yes, it would be a good opportunity to rework the comms, especially if the logic needs to be modified anyway to add new nations. 

 

However, this might be easier said than done. Comms are closely linked to AI (also needing improvement in my opinion), so deep changes could be very difficult. Nevertheless, relatively simple changes such as removing "It's close" would be quite helpful.

Some American airfields where attacked and if I am not mistaken it asproducedsome "epic" missions for some American flyers, one I remembre more vividly with a Mustang P51-D against some Foke-Wulf's A-8 that did end not well at all for the Germans after a long chase around some hill. :salute:

Hills were Slag heaps in a video I watched.

It will be interesting to see what default voice we will get for Allies on MP. For SP it should be squad dependant. Will it be skin dependant? 

 

Also it should not just be British or American, what about Canadian, Australian, French, Polish. .....

I hope they will fully appreciate how important it is to have varied and convincing voice chatter in singleplayer.  Upper end graphics tweaks are nice and really great for those who run the game on Ultra settings, but a well designed system for AI speech would benefit Everybody.  No matter what video card you own, or whether you play in Ultra, low settings, or even VR.

No, it has no benefits for MP.  AI is just annoying in MP servers.

Well it would benefit MP. 

 

The MP crowd is too small to generate revenue for massive work of updating Dserver and net code and associated MP improvements. 

 

Improvements to overall gameplay and SP product will generate higher overall sales, and benefit everyone including the smaller number of MP users. 

But you know that anyway ?

I have a framed picture of Raaaid hanging in my bedroom. I’m one of those special people who can only truly connect with my spouse, if I feel that Raaaid is watching us.

I`d be extremely surprised if the voices were Russian.

 

Yes, logic dictates they`ll have English and American voices for Allied pilots.

Sure it does, if well implemented.

More than once in the old IL2 I was clued into the presence/arrival of enemy AC because of AI chatter.

Fortunately that isn't possible on the good BoX MP servers.  There are virtually no AI aircraft.

I was thinking our old CoOps.

I wouldn’t want AI in the current Air-Quake rooms either.

TaW and WoL are probably just as realistic as any of your old coops.  More so in some ways.  Like the fact that there is virtually no AI.
