KatieLuna Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 I remember watching videos of IL-2 1946 where the He-111Z was crashed, but twisted strangely due to the physics model not being able to be split up. Half the plane was gone, and consequently it was spinning around a fixed point at the centre of the wing, which was now gone. I also know in War Thunder it is impossible to split a Bf109-Z, or a P38, due to the damage model not being able to be split. This is especially problematic on the F82, where the central wing pylon can take 100% damage, but is unable to break. How do you think the P38 will be handled? If we cut the wing inboard of the fuselages, will that whole fuselage separate? Will we be able to make a pilot escape pod by shearing off both fuselages? These questions are important people! I didn't buy this game to fly seriously, I bought it to mess around whilst flying! ? 1
SAG Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 i think soo, we can loos the entire tail section and the wings on current planes
Moderators CLOD AWC Posted July 14, 2018 Moderators CLOD Posted July 14, 2018 I understand what you refer to in the games you mentioned. The physics/damage model is far above WT's and is a considerable advancement of the old IL-2. I would expect it to be quite a rare sort of occurrence, but as the planes react to the air particles dynamically the mentioned the Zwilling problem won't happen, and maybe you could create a pilot escape pod (albeit a useless one ? )
453=Thornley Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Wouldn't splitting a P38 in half just make two P19's? ? 8

I just remembered some old series where they discussed how actually Fi-103R was effectively a failure (project cancelled) while its unmanned version Fi-103 was infamous V-1 "doodlebug"... perhaps one of those rare exceptions to unwritten rule but nevertheless an interesting example. 1
