If that’s your criteria for an aircraft to be modeled in game then why don’t we have so many other aircraft. Sorry, but the sole qualification to get it modeled is not a gun attached to a set of wings. If it’s a plane you want I suggest you put it in the “suggestions” section in the forum.
Nil Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 I would love to have a fi156, it will be a good counterpart for the u2/po2 It is truly an amazing airplane. 1
JtD Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 In the armament section of the manual you'll find a reference to a machine pistol model 28/II Schmeisser with two 50 round magazines as the standard version. No kidding. The plane was always armed. 2
Lysus Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 I was just kidding, but now I'm convinced! "A Storch was the victim of the last dogfight on the Western Front and another was downed by a direct Allied counterpart of the Storch, an L-4 Grasshopper, the military version of the well-known American Piper J-3 Cub civilian training and sport aircraft. The pilot and co-pilot of the L-4, lieutenants Duane Francis and Bill Martin, opened fire on the Storch with their .45 caliber pistols, forcing the German air crew to land and surrender." Would I enjoy flying it? Yes Would I enjoy being shot at while flying it? Not so much
xvii-Dietrich Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 At present, there is no real role for the Fi-156 in BoX. However, in Rise of Flight, there is the artillery-spotting mechanism. If Flying Circus implements a similar mechanism, and this mechanism can be used in BoX, then I agree that the Fi-156 would be a nice addition... regardless whether it is armed or not. Having a role (i.e. something to do) and recognition (i.e. points, mission-winning, a career, etc.) are more important than whether it is actually armed or not. 4
Nil Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 @xvii-Dietrich I agree with you, however, a real role for the Fi156 will be transport, but we can not really know until the U2/po2 is released.
