Two things jump out at me, that motherboard is not great, and the gpu is going to leave you wanting should you jump ship to VR, don't believe it's faster than a 1080. If you can pick up a 1080 it'd be faster, unless you want the RTX specific features I'd say turing is mostly a bust.

If you are going to grab a gigabyte board go with a gaming 7 if its not too much, that's a nice cpu you got that will overclock like a banshee with a good cooling and board setup.

Isn't a 2060 beefier than a 1080ti? Or is this one of those nvidia things where the 2060 has 3.9% more performance over a 1080x but costs a substantial amount more?

That would be the 2080 which is on par or a little better than the 1080ti but brings Ray Tracing and AI to the party.  The 2060 - more of a GTX 1070 contender.

If you are building a rig mid Summer - really, don't bother planning until then.  You will probably have price drops and the AMD Ryzen 3's will have landed which will be interesting to see if they bring Single Core performance up to par or better than Intel.  If so then you will have great options for building a PC and much better pricing.

Ram - 2 sticks at a minimum of 3200 speed.  Not that there are huge performance increases at the moment above 3200 and definitely not for the price hikes at todays prices but again - pricing will change by the time you buy.

For GPU and VR usage - I would recommend 1080ti or 2080 and above.  Maybe there is a refresh by the time you buy, again - who knows.  Maybe prices drop but I doubt by much cause there is no real competition in the high end GPU space in the foreseeable future.

Enjoy what you have now - save those pennies and think about it all just before you buy.

Ok it's my birthday this month. Think it's time to finally pull the trigger. Here's what I got so far that stays within my budget of around $1500. Thoughts?

I liked all of it except the 2060. I would get a 2070 (=1080) at a minimum for IL2 in VR. As someone else said, save your money on Windows. I got my license from SCDKey for $12 and it works fine, there are plenty of other sites that do discount Windows too. Does the hundred bucks saved help? You could also save a bit on the SSD and get something less "pro" since the difference basically isn't measurable in games. Maybe even downgrade the PSU a bit -- 750W is fine but you don't need platinum. You might save a few bucks going for a 650W bronze or something.

Basically, great build, but I would shave some $$ off the non-GPU/CPU/Memory components in order to get a 2070 or better.
