[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Reread this one from 20 years ago, very entertaining... 1
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) Another freebie, had some interesting stories, and a few great ones...(published and printed in July 1974, so exactly 50 years old)... Edited July 11, 2024 by [CPT]Pike*HarryM 3
von_Tom Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) Right now reading this rather than working: Spoiler I'm also reading through the text of the revised Black Cross Red Star 3 - release is getting closer! von Tom Edited August 9, 2024 by LukeFF swastikas 1
I/JG53_Kurtz Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 My last purchasings: Both are legendary books that i was dreaming 20 years ago but that I never had the chance to buy out of laziness, Now the dream became true 😍 4
cardboard_killer Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Been slowly reading IT for a couple weeks now. Can't seem to get into the groove with this one, but I'm close to finishing it now, so am holding out to read what happens. 1
cardboard_killer Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Trying to decide what to read next. Just finished the above depressing fiction, and it makes me want to pick up some non-fiction, but I have so much in the queue. What should it be? Kiera and the Sun Absolution East of Eden North and South Holding Out: The German Army and Operational Command in 1917 (I'd have to buy that, though, for $45). 1
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) Finished this one, surprisingly good. Moves along much faster than the McCullough Rome books... Back now to classic sci-fi... Edited September 7, 2024 by [CPT]Pike*HarryM 2
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Just finished this one, very good. Beautiful writing... Next up is a bio of Omar Bradley. 1
cardboard_killer Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I got this for my birthday, but put it on the back burner for now. I am currently reading something I've never read before, although I know the story as most of us probably do. 2
Bremspropeller Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Looks like the IHRA bookseries on the Pacific Theater might get completed, which is great news! http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=65377
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Has been a while since I've read one of these... 1
cardboard_killer Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Tired of the new, I am currently re-reading two books. One, the last of the Citino series on the German Army in WW2, but the other is one of my beloved books that I re-read ever five years or so. 2 1
cardboard_killer Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I hope you like it more than I did. If it hadn't been so recommended to me, I would never have finished it.
TempestV Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) I thought it is terrific...but I can understand why some people may not like it or lukewarm to it. I'm starting his followup novel to this as soon as I finish The Sympathizer. I lived in Westminster, CA for awhile care-giving for my late Father (Career US Army who did 2 tours in VietNam), met quite a few older and younger Vietnamese while in Westminster...I use to see some Vietnamese refugees at LAX when transiting to UCLA in the mid 70's. the few I saw looked so forlorn. In Westminster (aka 'Little Vietnam') Vietnamese are very prosperous now. Didn't watch the The Sympathizer on TV. I don't own a TV; by choice. Edited January 17 by TempestV 1 1
I/JG53_Kurtz Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) I don't know if this is the right thread, but I recently started to read articles of the Eduard monthly publication dedicated to aircraft modelling and history. I must say that the quality of the articles, the topics and the aircraft art are impressive! I suggest everybody interested to have a look. Some examples: https://info.eduard.com/en/01-2023-1/bailing-out-over-the-jungle https://info.eduard.com/en/12-2024-1/november-16-1944-1 https://info.eduard.com/en/02-2025-1/the-mw-50-system-as-an-alternative-to-the-gm-1-1 Edited February 20 by I/JG53_Kurtz 3
=LD=Bulldog* Posted February 20 Posted February 20 If you like scale modelling, Fonthill Media has published a new series dedicated to the hobby. Jay Publisher 4
cardboard_killer Posted April 22 Posted April 22 It is a broad overview, and, IMO, lacks depth. It also seems to assume the reader knows more than I do about Greek and Balkan politics of the era. Still, there do not seem to be many English language books on the topic, so I recommend it. 1
BMA_FlyingShark Posted May 29 Posted May 29 (edited) Guys, Really proud to have gotten a copy of this. Maybe it's all just fantasy but interesting theory nevertheless. The book cost me a small fortune, shipping it to Europe another one and import taxes as well. But here it is, first edition: Have a nice day, Edited May 29 by BMA_FlyingShark 1
von_Tom Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Chapter 1 Black Cross Red Star volume 6. Text blurred and redacted for obvious reasons. von Tom 1

1CGS LukeFF Posted June 19 1CGS Posted June 19 After sitting on my bookshelf for many years, I finally got around to starting this recently: 3
Bremspropeller Posted June 26 Posted June 26 (edited) Gotta start mine as well some time. 😅 Just read this (mostly) over a recent business trip, after having it sitting in a shelve for the better part of a decade: Nice one. Edited June 26 by Bremspropeller 1
Zooropa_Fly Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The fourth of Spikes seven WW2 memoires. Hilarious in places.. makes you groan in others. A priceless account of day to day life on the ground from Lance-Bombardier Milligan. Well worth the read. S! 1
