@Pat or any experienced PWCG user

Could someone please explain the Simple and Advanced config choices available after I have created my campaign. I have used PWCG forever in ROF but am really new to it in BoX. I have tried the quick guides etc. but nothing really explains whats what. As an example in Advanced Config there is a 'Select Max Pilot Injury' option as default it is set to 3 (PWCG 4.01) . I have seen in the forum some chaps have set this to 4, so what is the max setting and what does each number effect? My guess 0 = invulnerable and upwards but at what stages and how far do the increments go?

This is just an example. There are 9 categories in Advanced alone each with ther own sub categories. I know this is prolly a massive undertaking, but it would help peoples knowledge and understanding of this wonderful software. Forgive me if this has been covered in one thread before and if so could someone point me to it. I have tried searching and can only find splashes of explanations scattered over multiple threads.

@Pat please do not take this as a criticism, I have been an ardent fan of your software for many years, and will remain so. If this guide does need compiling I am more than willing to offer my services, given that I need to understand it myself first.

Best regards and respect

If you hover over the advanced config item it will display help text.

Hi Pat

I  have seen that, however I was looking for something a little more specific than just e.g "Set AI prefs" or "Set Density of Ground Objects" .

As I gave in my example, this is in Campaign Prefs Category;

"As an example in Advanced Config there is a 'Select Max Pilot Injury' option as default it is set to 3 (PWCG 4.01) . I have seen in the forum some chaps have set this to 4, so what is the max setting and what does each number effect? My guess 0 = invulnerable and upwards but at what stages and how far do the increments go?"

Is there anywhere that gives a guide for each option in each Category?

Best regards.

When you set your cursor on the text 'Select Max Pilot Injury', it shows you '1 = No Injury, 2 = Minor Wound, 3 = Major Wound, 4 = Death'

My advice would be, look what you understand yourself and if there is something special you would like to customize, but still don't know if it is possible and how, then ask for it.

So if you set 3 and get injured for the first time then you get heavily wounded and out of action for a long time? 4 would be death on first wound?

If so, then I would manually enter say 2 at the beginning then once or twice 3 then 4... but I suppose this is ultimately be user's decision, as there are no rules... some folks have been downed several times with no serious or fatal injuries while some have been killed by first wound... no rules there in life.

PS... aww, I think I got it... PWCG actually rolls a dice in range you specified... so if you set 3 your outcome would be heavy injury maximum, and 4 would be anything goes, from light injury to death. Gonna set 4.?

Maximum injury level means that is the greatest harm that will come to the player.  4 is the equivalent of iron man mode.  Dead is dead.  Get killed or captured and your career is over.  I default to 3 - seriously wounded.  If you are killed or captured at level three PWCG will reduce the harm to a serious wound and keep you out for some time - usually months.  Set it to 2 and you will be injured for weeks at worst.  Set it to 1 and you will never be injured.

PWCG does not roll a dice.  You pilots status is taken from the simulator generated mission logs.  It only reduces the level of harm that comes to your pilot should something bad happen to him.

I play at three because missing several months is enough of a penalty that i try to be careful with my virtual life.  I think if I did iron man I wouldn't get out of Moscow.  The purpose of the various would levels is to let you play as you would like.

Hope that clarifies.
