Raptorattacker Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Hi I've just recently noticed a wee problem on my Spit IX. When landing in Quick Mission I was finding it incredibly difficult to slow the machine down. Eventually, after several attempts (upwind and downwind!!) I eventually managed to get it down. When coming to a stop I opened the canopy and then the plane started moving on it's own. On looking at the HUD I realised that the throttle was increasing to around 20% or so. This was WITHOUT me touching my throttle. The throttle, a Thrustmaster TWCS, is not faulty as I ran tests on it also this problem doesn't apply to any of the other Planes in-game. Any assistance gratefully received!! Rap

It only happens with the MkIX Spit, no other planes. I haven't tried any different maps but I did try it on a different location 1v1 on this map and the same thing happens. Check the video, you can see it happening and I'm not touching the throttle (apart from the couple of times I gun it to try and reset it again).
unreasonable Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 I have never seen this - problem I have with the plane is sometimes the engine cuts out completely on wheels up after take off! I see you have your difficulty on Normal - try changing it to Custom and turning off Engine Assist.
BubiHUN Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 I made a few hours tests with the new Spit. I had no problems with its throttle at all. Maybe you have some problems with your controller. Did you install your controller's driver correctly?

It's been tested and it ONLY happens with the Spit MkIX. 8 hours ago, unreasonable said: I see you have your difficulty on Normal - try changing it to Custom and turning off Engine Assist. I'll give that a whirl but, like I say, it ONLY happens with the Spit MkIX. It's not universal, JUST with this one plane.
Barnacles Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 try toggling the engine and rpm assistance settings (default left shift + n and m) see what that does
Raptorattacker Posted July 8, 2018 Author Posted July 8, 2018 Well, it only seems to happen on the Novosokolniki Map after further investigation. VERY strange! Anyway, thanks for the suggestions chaps but I guess I just stay away from this map in Quick Missions for the time being!! 1
unreasonable Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 I have no throttle problems on that map: it has the same temperature and pressure settings as Moscow winter, odd if there is a difference unless you have done something with the weather settings, which I doubt. The only other thing I can see from your video is that the rpm control is right back (low rpm) on the ground when it should be fully forwards, by the book. Perhaps your CEM settings are making the prop drive the engine in some weird way? As I said, the best way to test anything like this is with all the optional helps off. If you are playing on Normal then you have automatic engine control on. Try turning it off. While looking at your problem BTW I solved mine: my mixture control is on a separate Saitek throttle quadrant to the boost and rpm on the main G940. On start up the in game mixture control can be forwards (rich) while my Saitek is back. I do not need to use the Saitek until I use one of it's buttons for gear up after take-off, but when I press that button the whole thing "wakes up" , to use the technical term, and the in game mixture is set to fine and my engine cuts out! So I just have to remember to wiggle the axis and set it correctly before starting. Never had this problem with others because the Germans do not need a mixture setting and the soviets need the water and oil coolers adjusted, also on my Saitek, so I never forget the mixture. Just shows how useful it is to have a checklist memorized for both take-off and landing.

I do like that particular technical term! Glad that SOME good came out of this strange episode. I'll give a look at the CEM and see what and if there is a solution (to use another rare technical term!!).
