I'm really on the fence about this...

 

Is it really a good idea to separate us from the rest of IL-2?

 

The far more numerous WWII flyers need to see that we're an active community, too, and feel the need to join us. I was planning to resurrect the Camel Fag for the occasion, especially geared at them. That won't be so easy if they have to visit a separate forum to even see it...

 

P.S. How separate will Flying Circus be from the rest of IL-2? Will it be on a separate launcher/executable?

very reason. It would be espacially great having also content in a merged environment. It is nice to switch the Spit for a Spad for another round of fun. This is especially important in the MP server list. One should see that there's more.

 

Anything that can be DLC for the great battle series should share the same forum. Even tanks. Anyone seeing that there's some good servers up runniing different content might be temoted to try it.

No separation, still the same forum but with the right subsections so titles discussions do not overlap each other.

 

People ask for it and We did to. Also this way is easier for the devs to check issues with the different titles.

 

It has been said that everything will work under 1 launcher, same as now. Again, no separation.

It's definitely a good thing to separate the flight model discussions, technical sections, bug reports, screenshots etc. for all titles.

 

What I just worry about is that people who have no real immediate interest in WWI won't find their way down here, scrolling all the way past the WWII section and going into another section (also) called General Discussion. They're the people we need to get interested in WWI, not all of us who are already coming over from Rise of Flight.

 

A centralised General Discussion for all of IL-2 (Great Battles, Tank Crew, Flying Circus and Cliffs of Dover) with as few sticky threads as possible (there's 12 at the moment) shows people what is alive.

Agree the unread content button should be bigger, probably bold or buttonized and probably red. On the other hand, it is my go to click to read these forums. Getting to the "content I posted in" is way more complicated than in the old format.

I think the whole WW1 is so specific for only a few simmers and limited to a small niche, that if being merged into the whole IL2 it will be vanished by all the more populair WW2 and maybe even the future jet versions. 

Only if I was 1c, I would always make an separate section of the game that is in preorder and put it on top for extra publicity. 

 

edit: Also I would merge the whole RoFforum into this IL2 (as a sub forum) before it is dead.

Agree with the first part - it would be swamped in the main forum, and if not be an irritation to those not interested in WW1.  So I welcome the new section.

 

I would not merge the old RoF forum though, it is easy enough for anyone to find. FC is going to be a new game, new maps, also new FM, DM etc ( at least they had better be ) so start with a clean slate.   Preferably with the RoF veterans not all taking their old gripes about RoF and just continuing their vendettas here: but that may be too much to ask...

You know if a forum is not crowded anymore, it will be soon or later be closed and removed from the internet. 

If we want to keep the RoF forum, that does contain lots of interesting info, then I think the best idea is to make an seperate section here. 

The few visiters that use the RoF forum, mmm, I do not think they can not find this forum. Think most RoF flyers do also have BoX.
