Driving tanks in BoS?

Well the drivable tanks already exist as can be seen on the video, you can drive them around and fire the cannon, you just need to add a gunsight.

LOL, do you really think that all that's needed to be done is add a gunsight?

Of course we all want the perfect flight sim, but the drivable tanks and vehicles will be a nice adittion as a side development NOT interferring with the flight sim.

Side development? Not interfering? So, where do the personnel and funds come from to make it a non-interfering project?

But anyways, this discussion is a waste of time, as 1CGS has already stated there are zero plans for driveable tanks.

It'd end up with people complaining about ballistics and armour and speed and ... Then there'd be an outcry at how poorly modeled the tanks are which would mean that the sim is massively, incontrovertibly flawed and just an arcade game, so then the Devs would need to throw some resources at it.

Sounds about right. :)

Annnnd...confession time: I actually got the chance to play with this driveable T-34 tank with Jason & Loft before their press event on the aircraft carrier back in July of last year. While it is undoubtedly cool, it would take a lot of work to get it to an acceptable level for the general public. It has no gunsight and no real interior to speak of, though with some practice I was able to hit German tanks with it. It's probably best to just call it a tech demo.

I disagree, I think adding tanks would be a huge selling point for those that like tanks. That being said they have to be done right.  So you bring in a guy to finish them up.  They are decidedly less complicated than planes, so its not going to take as much work.  And as its billed as a flight sim, I don't think people are going to complain that much about the bits and bobs and knobs.  I just don't see why any feature that is currently that close to finished, should not be considered.  Its all revenue and fun for people who want it at the end of the day.

I knew we would have this silly "debate" when I watched this vid.

The moment BoS as a flightsim with all flyables is working fine with great FMs, DMs, performance, weather, AI and radio system, offline campaign, multiplayer, mission editor and loads of infantry I'll be the 1st to say "yeah, driveable tanks are kinda cool".

Until then every minute wasted on such a gimmicky feature should be rather invested in the actual flightsim part.

You want to play with tanks? Play WoT or WT.

I disagree.

Ofcourse don´t want for developers spend time  in early stages of development.
But ... I like tanks also  :gamer:

I'd rather the time spent on offering more planes once the game is released. I'll never use the tank feature just like I never flew the experimental aircraft in IL2:1946. It's a flight sim not a be everything for every one game.

.....and like ParaB, once I heard the tanks were displayed to demonstrate the lighting effect of BoS, I knew this debate was coming.

Not really true. If they added human controlled tanks and you blow one up, you have used the tank feature, even if only indirectly.

I still think that any features that add more human targets to this game is a good thing.

Well.... as said many time, the dev said there would be no drivable tank in the release.
