Superblu Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Sorry if the question was already asked somewhere else, but a quick search with different keywords didn't come up with any result. I was wondering (me aswell as my squad mates) if we will have an option to choose between the current minimap system (the map "follows" you so you don't get lost) and a pure and simple minimap like IL-2 1946 has. At the current state, VFR is basically useless since the "Magic Map" will always tell where you are, without the need of spotting points of interest along your route (forests/rivers/etc.). S! 1
Requiem Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Just look to rof to see how it works. It works differently in BoS Hooves. In RoF you can manipulate the map using the mouse which allows you to look around and plan a route. In BoS though the map always centers on your aircraft when you bring it up (meaning you can never be lost) and you can't look around the map at all.

I do recall Jason mentioning it was a place holder in BOS. Oh you got new BOS videos Edited January 19, 2014 by TheBlackPenguin
Jantzen Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Digging out this fred, I do would like to know, if there are any news on a new map system where there is no auto-center. Greetings and thanks for responses in advance!
No601_Prangster Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 You do know that if you press the O key you can zoom and pan the map to your hearts content! 1
Pringliano Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 You do know that if you press the O key you can zoom and pan the map to your hearts content! Thx mate!!!! I didn't know :-) and was wondering if it would be possible in the final release... Ooops!
Requiem Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 You do know that if you press the O key you can zoom and pan the map to your hearts content! Yeah true, but it would be better if we could manipulate the map while still maintaining a bit of situational awareness around us, just like in RoF. In BoS pressing O makes your map cover the entire screen, so this could actually make navigation more difficult because you are deprived of the ability to cross-reference your outside enivronment with the map at the same time
