Ropalcz Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Hi, can someone experienced tell me how to properly approach AA position to strafe and destroy it and stay alive? I would like to know how to do it, because clearing AA positions for incoming bombers is pretty important... Is there any video tutorial for this?
-SF-Disarray Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Doing this alone can be tricky. Long range shooting seems to work well, supposing you can land the shot. Another trick I've known to work is to fly at a bit of an offset from the gun you are trying to kill and then kicking with the rudder to get the shot off. Flying at a bit of an angle like that makes you a little harder to hit. Bobbing up and down also seems to give the AI gunners a bit of a hard time. By far the best way to deal with AA is to have someone else get the attention of the guns at high speed in an evasive pattern. While the gunners chaise them you come in and destroy the gun. The guy getting shot at is at risk the whole time though because they have to stay in range of the gun or else it will start tracking you while you make your attack run. With a little practice and coordination this tactic can be very effective. 1
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 (edited) Attacking AAA by yourself is hazardous to your health but if you’re gonna do it, good ol Dart can help. Generally speaking, don’t fly directly at the gun until you are ready to shoot and then only long enough to get the shot off. Immediately go back to flying evasively and make the gunners move their gun through more than one axis to engage you. This is the same tactic, BTW, to use while engaging aircraft defenses/turrets as well. Edited June 29, 2018 by II/JG17_HerrMurf 2
