Which Limb could you most afford losing for Hobby or Work?

As a Bicyclist and Motorcyclist, as well as Flyer, Limbs are something that can get lost quite easily. Specifiy how much of any Limb you would be OK with (Feet, Hand, entire Lower Leg or Arm, or Entire Legs or Arms)

Head is not an Option because of German Helmet Laws.

Neither are Hands, right Hand for Obvious Reasons, Left for Spoilers (Aircraft) and Clutch (Bike)

But I think I would choose my Lower Left Leg, and Cannibalise an Old Vespa PK Hand Shifter and Rig a Stand System so I don't fall over.

What can you do without?

I use a chainsaw every day and I try not to think about that kind of thing too much.

I cut one of those fall-downs today with the "um...which way is it going to snap" you know the ones.

I have 3 Stihl gas chainsaws, but as a matter of course I carry one of the new battery  powered units in the truck now, and I'm impressed to hell with that thing.

I go get one of the gas units for anything too serious.

edit:

thats a great idea if i was multimultimillionaire i would go to doctors ruin them and then buy parts of their bodies for fun :)

You're a bit of a special case here in that your head in general is probably fairly expendable.

Well, I managed to almost Split my Foot when I was like 14 or 15. Fortunatley my Shoe took most of the Brunt and the Axe slid between my 2nd and 3rd Toe and just drew a little Blood. And two of my Lower Vertibraes have suffered Compression or Shearing Damage. Apparently (and I don't remember where or when) I came pretty close to never being able to walk properly again.

Looking at the X-Rays just made the though come up again, that if I actually became a Cripple, loosing my Legs, I may actually prefer having them removed completely.

Personally, I’d go with an arm, nothing in the world could replace the ability to walk. Well maybe levitation but that’ll be technology we use soon right?

What kind of motorcycle do you ride?

I love black humor, but this topic is really weird. There are a lot of people who lost a limb or organ - this question is

really without any respect for those who are affected!

P.S.: And where's the damn moderator to close this disgusting topic? Did he lost his fingers???

what a strange question. For flight sims I don't think I could do without my hands. I'd miss all those buttons, hats, and radials on the hotas, so it would need to be a leg. Guess I could still kick the rudder with an artificial leg, but would I be able to operate the toe brakes ? :)

Well, I received my Organ Donor Card and it really was the first Question that popped into my Head.

And People don't become any more holy or better, just because they are missing bits. And I am doing my Part to help those in need, should some misfortune cause my Head to be turned into mush by a Tractor Trailer.

Wow, now that's a bloody stupid argument - I've got the organ donor card too and this doesn't make me better than anyone else.

And btw. I'm a motorcyclist too. Sorry.

This thread isn’t about being disrespectful to people who have lost limbs and organs, it’s simply asking in your current situation, which would you choose.

Which models do you have?

My 461 Magnum is my true love and constant companion and I have my old 460 as a back up. In the truck we have a 250, 440, 200 and 201.

I could quite happily lose a tree limb although I might have problems, later in life, trying to branch out.

Left leg, definitely. Just below knee thank you. I have rash on it and when it's itching real bad i sometimes WANT to amputate it. Prostheses nowadays are so good anyway so would there even be much downsides of having one?

I guess loosing ones willy would free up a lot of time to concentrate on other hobbies.  Especially at an earlier age.
