Bf 109 F2 Radiator Control Auto/Full open

I know there are two conditions, auto and full open. I use complex engine control. At the start of the mission the condition is auto. I take it off auto, this increases my drag. I try to put it back into the auto condition, but the control fails to do it. I have the control mapped correctly, because auto is disengaged. Am I missing something?

I just tried it in QMB and it worked perfectly. I was able to switch from auto mode to manual mode, the radiator flaps opened completely and the water temperature fell to about 80° in a few seconds. And then I switched back to auto mode, the flaps closed again and the temerature rose. You only need the key for change between autmode and manual mode, but there is no need for changing it, it was only used, when the automatic system didn't work anymore. The default setting, exept for takeoff, was auto mode. In game you can definitely takeoff with auto mode.

I don't know, this isn't happening for me. Yes, I take off with it in auto mode. In mission condition I'll change to manual when the temperature rises. Yes, it does drop the temperature quickly. I'll look again how I have the control mapped. The automatic system seems to work well in combat situations.

Leave it on auto. You aren't gaining anything by putting them in manual mode.

It is normal, that the temperature rises, as the automatic system handles it in a way, that the temperature doesn't rise into the red area, but the radiator flaps are as much closed as possible, to reduce drag. You don't have to fear overheating, if the tmperatures would get too high, the automatic opens the flaps more, this is all.

I'll leave it in auto and see how it goes. I only take it out of auto when I get a warning about my temp.. This is only a problem in the F-2. I might be overreacting to this warning.

No this is a problem of tech chat. Forget the warning, others posted about warnings in G2, as well. I never use tech chat, and I never had an engine dying because of overheating. There is something not working correctly with the tech chat. As long as you don't use combat power for too long, you won't get in engine troubles.

Yes, Yogiflight, you are correct, thanks. I was overacting to the warning. Testing the limits you are correct, leaning heavy on combat power does present problems, but normal use of combat power is safe. Thanks again.
