71st_AH_Mastiff Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I'm having an issue with double vision of the reticle sights. I can't seem to fix it. and I don't want the mod, I want the BOS VR team to fix it. I know it can be done, because in the other unnamed sim its working fine.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Don't want to be rude, but I see this many times from new players to VR. Are you sure you are using the gun sight correctly? Do you have this same problem in all planes for example, the spitfire? Most of the gunsights are physically too small to have the optic displayed in both eyes. They rely on interpolation in the brain. The spitfire is the exception. 1
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 yes the spit ix works fine, not the IL 2 1941, or the 1942, both have gun sight issues. double vision, and i'm also getting a weird aliasing effect now, that wasn't there before the last update. I do have ASW off by default using that tray tool. but it seem not to work after this new update.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 OK, so I believe you may just not be using the sight properly. Go practice with a 109. Sit centered in the plane, not offset to the right like the default seat position will place you. Reticle in right eye only, both eyes open left eye not looking at the gun sight. Both eyes focus on your target, not the sight. Stop trying to look through the sight with both eyes. Once you get a feel for how the 109 sight works then realise that the other planes (except the spit) work the same. They are just more awkward to use as you have to pick a side to shift your head to. There isn't a fault in the game, the smaller sights in planes work just like a holographic sight on a military rifle does. Both eyes open, one eye through the sight.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) I'm well aware of sitting center, ( drives me nuts those guys that say their professional flight sim youtubers and they sit sideways in the 109 cockpits) I always adjust the cockpits, but in the VR how Im supposed to adjust to center, yes if you look at the sights default values, you will see that they are all defaulted to the right side for the *german planes* as well as for the Allied ( they seem to be defaulted, skewed to the german sights right side view). They need to do more work in the VR area to fix a lot of the aliasing issues and the prop effect, because in DCS there is no issue with the sights or the props. I have the GUI VR zoom keyed, as well as the centering, that's another issue that needs fixed in the Main menu too. The other problem I have is once you fly this sim in VR you just can't go back to TRackir! Its just doesn't feel right to fly 2D any longer. Edited June 25, 2018 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
Rei-sen Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 For the German planes you need to center the cockpit view in 2D mode, then press F10 to save the new default view. Do that for every German plane with offset view. Then in VR mode when you press Num5 you will be centered correctly.
dburne Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) I have not had any of these issues with my Rift, however full disclosure I have only used it so far with the Yak-1 and Spit V. Turning ASW off fixes the graphic anomaly on the prop/gunsight for me. I use the Oculus Tray Tool with a profile for BoS to set ASW off. To get my seated position right I did it on monitor moving and saving, then checking position in VR, until I had it just right for me. Edited June 25, 2018 by dburne

Good deal, have fun! I will also be doing a new build later in the year. I was tempted by that new 8086K but still trying to hold out and see what might be coming down the pike. BTW - what really got rid of all the shimmering for me was the landscape filters in the GUI, there are I think two there with similar names - I set them to sharpen/sharp.
