been looking for 'free flight' mode in IL2 1946

hello there, im new to to the game, 
so ive been looking for a free flight mode, where you select your plane and start in airbase, not in air, ive seen quick mission builder, but, it seems that it doesnt allow spawning from the ground, (you start the plane and take off manually)
my version is 4.12.2m unmodded

It does if the option of "scramble" is available in the mission type.

I am also new to the game, and to flight sims. I used the small mod Straight-From-The-Farm, which is a series of exercises for take-off and landing. I also had installed the VP mod pack, so had a ton of airplanes. I tried a few different planes with Straight-From-The-Farm, and they worked fine, letting me practice taking off, flying about, and landing them.

 

So far I am up to landing on the aircraft carrier (they simulate it on an open field, so much more tolerant than a real aircraft carrier). Lots of learning for me! ?

If you go through the quick mission builder

1.  Under the section labeled your flight --- Put the Num. block to 1.  Then select whatever your plane will be.

2.  Under the sections labeled Friendly and Hostile --- All Num. blocks to 0

3. Now find where it says target.  Change this block to Scramble.

4. Hit fly.  You should start on the ground and be able to fly around as long as you want.  No enemies or Friendlies are present.

 

Note:  If you have your Map BLock set to Coral Sea, you will start on aircraft carrier.
