Phantom-103 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Hello,Is there a Tank Tutorial available anywhere? I'm having some issues in VR and trying to get it figured out. Thank You 1
NETSCAPE Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Just check the controls in-game, there aren't many. I don't have VR (actually couldn't use it due to health issues) - I'm not even sure it's supported in the tank? cool if it is! 1
Phantom-103 Posted June 24, 2018 Author Posted June 24, 2018 (edited) Hello Netscape,"Tank You"? for reply,I am able to drive the Tank, but can't figure out how to switch to Gunner or open turrent hatch.I've looked in controls but don't see anything Edited June 25, 2018 by Phantom-103 spelling
NETSCAPE Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 hmm maybe this was changed awhile back or something...I'll have to check later.
Thad Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 (edited) Salutations, NOTES: Fellow tankers, I think the best and most immersive control setup follows. If you have a HOTAS set the acceleration/brake/reverse to your throttle axis. In this way you will not have to hold a key down for movement. If you have Rudders set their use for right/left vehicle steering. In my case I use my Thrustmaser FCS throttles Paddles. I find aiming with the mouse completely immersion breaking and too easy. I obtained a simple program ‘JoyToKey’, to replace mouse aiming with my joysick ie. Left/Right Up/Down. This feels much more authentic albeit slightly more difficult. Although currently cumbersome, one has to create a unique tank 'input' folder for using these options during tank missions. When going back to flying one has to place the backup plane input folder into the game. Very inconvenient. Developers, please, please, please, program into the game the selection of multiple user 'input' files. This would be useful when flying different types of aircraft too. Good luck in your tanking adventures. Edited June 24, 2018 by Thad Added notes 2 4 2
Phantom-103 Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 Thad,Thank You very much,I'll give this a try.☺️
stupor-mundi Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) Now, with the first new tanks from Tank Crew having come out with the update, there must be some new keys. Ctrl-C works fine for cycling from station to station, but puts you, for instance for the gunner, in a view sitting in front of the sight, and you can look around. There must be key to switch to a position of actually looking into the sight. I've just poked around for a few minutes, haven't accidentally stumbled over the solution yet. Thad Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) From the gunner position... press the T key to take control of the turret... it needs to be in the down position. Press Left Shift+T to reach the gunsight. Right Alt+C to open position hatches and back. IL2GroundUnitReference.rar Edited July 28, 2018 by Thad
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Does something display on the screen when you switch ammo type. I receive nothing to know what type of ammo I have loaded?
Thad Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 On the old Player Pz III and the T-34 there is a display at the lower left for type of ammo select and remaining. Things may be different with the new drivable Kv-1 and Tiger. For one thing one can fire both the cannon and the machine gun from the gunsight without switching anything.

Something I've gotten completely used to, but now realise it may not be documented anywhere: If you use the cursor keys for driving (or presumably wasd, if you have it mapped that way), if you press the 'forward' key (or backward), hold it, press 'o' for map, let go of the forward (or backward) key, press 'o' again to exit the map, you're now driving without having to hold the key. you can press the left/right keys to steer while going fast. Press the forward (or backward) key again to terminate this mode. While in this mode, if you are going forward, press the backward key to halt temporarily. Letting go again returns to driving forward. This works inversely when going backward. When I discovered this mode I mistook it for a bug initially. Pretty convinced it's intentional. SvAF/F16_Dark_P Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Hi guys i am bumping this thread I wonder if there are any guides on what type of ammunition to use? I heard that you only need the standard armor piercing high explosive round, the HEAT and HE ammunition are inferior/unnecessary, is this true? Regards

tofu Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 I decided to purchase and give support to this game. I think with some time, I would enjoy this game. I am also interested in tutorials the players or devs can give for new players. I am mostly interested in single player. Yes, I might be a more casual player than many sim players here, but I also have purchased and want to support game. A little direction, basic ideas on how to start, YouTube videos or even posts here suggesting on how to get your feet wet with your first tank mission... any of that would be really helpful. 3
Bichu Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 (edited) I was going to post almost exactly the same. I bought the game to support it so it keeps evolving, but would be very useful for new players a tutorial mission, readme with some instructions or mapping keys, something to make it a little easier for total newcomers. Im Single player too and the the Tiger 88 pack has been a great finding! If a little crew management and vehicle evolution could be included that would be a great addition (imho). This can be the great successor of panzer elite.. Edited December 6, 2020 by Bichu 2
ACG_Bobo Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Get in game, in your favorite tank, on the ground. Quick Mission's great for this. Push 'Esc'. Push 'Station Notes'. Much will be revealed Then click through the different positions. Each one gets a custom screen, key list and stuff like that! Very helpful it all is. 2 4
69javier078 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 One question: how does the commander calculate the distance to the enemy targets?

tofu Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Will definitely check out the mission pack from Tiger 88. I did not see the Station Notes as well. Thanks all!
