Lysus Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I like to start with the earliest plane set available, but am I making a mistake going with BoM over BoS? I'll get them all eventually, but my OCD tells me earliest date first. 2
angus26 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 In the long run it won’t matter which you bought first if you are going to buy them all. Personally I would start with BoS, then again, that is just me.
=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Hi....Buy BoS mate. its a good place to start and nice planes.
YouBet Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I'm with you, Lysus. I felt I couldn't battle at Stalingrad until I finished the Battle of Moscow. That said, they're both terrific -- can't wait to fight in the Kuban. 1
-332FG-Gordon200 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 BoS would give you the most bang for the dollar IMO. Both are on sale at the moment. 1
=SqSq=switch201 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 The key is if you plan to play online or not. Most servers have at least some BOS planes available at all times, but it might be hard to find a server that has BOM planes running. For example WOL maps always have at least a few BOS planes for every map/mission, but only about half of the maps/missions have BOM planes if multiplayer is of no concern to you, than I think I would go with your gut.
RedKestrel Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 BOM and BOS standard are both on sale now for ridiculously low prices. If you can afford it, buy both. On the soviet side I think BoM has the more interesting planeset, though perhaps not the more competitive one. The I-16 and the MiG-3 both have a unique feel that you don't get from the other soviet planes. The I-16 is great fun just to do aerobatics in and the open cockpit in this sim is amazing. Its a twitchy little thing but you can pull off insane maneuvers if you can keep from spinning. The MiG is that most rare of creatures, a high-altitude soviet plane. Its engine operation, handling and design philosophy are quite different from other soviet fighters so its a nice change of pace. its a challenge to take off and land, but at speed its stable and flies wonderfully. If you're looking for challenging and interesting birds to fly, I would go with BoM For German fighters BoM has the earlier versions of the 109s, the E7 and the F2, which are more...jack of all trades I would say, than later models of the 109. You can turnfight quite easily as well as energy fight, so if you want to fly Luftwaffe and still engage in knife-fighting, those planes are a bit more able to be successful (perhaps not against I-16s, but against MiGs for sure. BoM has the Pe-2 and the Ju-88, both of which are fast bombers with good performance. And the luftwaffe has the Bf-110, which can operate as a 'heavy fighter' or a ground attacker. And of course you get the early version of the Il-2, always a necessity with this series. If you're looking for challenging and interesting birds to fly, I would go with BoM. If you're just starting out, BoS might be better, as the planes there are a bit more conventional (at least in terms of fighters) and also more competitive in MP. 1 1
dburne Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 My thoughts: It all began with BoS, so if only one start there. As others mentioned, with the sale get all you can.

Someone could basically get BoS, BoM plus collector planes and campaigns for not much more than a single early access price right now. Can't ask for a better deal than that!
Seb71 Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Whichever you buy, make sure you get the Premium Edition. 3
JonRedcorn Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 I bought BOM and can't believe how amazing the mig-3 is. Love it.
Thad Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Salutations, I think the Mig-3 is one of the best "looking" fighter aircraft in the game. ?
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 If you feel like starting at the start, Battle of Moscow is an awesome set of content. The Moscow map is great, the late autumn and winter scenery is very atmospheric, and the aircraft set is a bit more varied than the Stalingrad set. Progress through the collection as you go and you'll have a great time no doubt!
Lysus Posted June 23, 2018 Author Posted June 23, 2018 (edited) Thanks everyone! Great community, I have both (Gordon200 gifted me BoS), 20 planes to choose from, and the Fw 190 A-3 caught my eye. I couldn't get that thing to stop spinning on the runway to save my life, finally in frustration I pulled back on the stick...bingo. Tail wheel lock is a beautiful thing. Anyway, I'm completely blown away by the detail, and WWII never looked better, especially at this price point. I was curious, are the ribbons under everyone's avatars given out for completing campaigns in career mode? Thanks! Edited June 23, 2018 by Lysus 1 1
ACG_KaiLae Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 No, they're for preordering products basically. 2
