Does this matter? I get an immediate CTD while it is loading soon after I hit "play".It starts with the usual VR screen but then quicklyafter hitting "Enter" I get the CTD.The Steam install ( BoS)works fine either way in VR or without. ...so I'm wondering whether this is what is supposed to happen after the merge I managed yesterday.

My link to the original still works independent of Steam.

Same for me, after the merge, manually logging in to IL-2 directly crashes the game.

I guess it's supposed not to work anymore after the merge.

Mike,

I've gone to "Support" to get a definitive answer....We'll see what they say...At least my Steam version works well.....

None of my versions work! I get to the login write my login and click enter, a short moment later I have CTD! Kinda annoying! I evewn tried to rest my password, same thing! I tried my oldpassword and got the message wrong email or password please register your license at our websit!

It was working ok last night after the merge but now it´s not!

I also checked the startup.cfg and it showed

[KEY=account] login = "" password = "" tried the blank option, NOGO, tried to fill in my login and password in the file, NOGO!

UPDATE! It might be solved! I did as follows, Went into Stemapp, Library, started the game from there, logged in and got to the login of the game, logged in with my new password and lo and behold; I was asked if I wnted to login and merge the two, steam and nonsteam. Choose to merge and in I was! Exited and tried from the IL2 exe and it works!

Up to that point, this is the normal "Merge Accounts" procedure and it works for me too.

I can start IL-2 from Steam without issues.

This is the part that does not work after the merge anymore - at least for me.

Starting IL-2.exe and logging in manually with E-Mail and Password gives a 10-second wait followed by a CTD.

Cheers!

Notice, Storebror, I did NOT start from the IL2 exe but the small box in the steam library! That is the only thing I can think of beeing different from your description!

After doing the merging tapdance I don´t have to log in any more! I click the exe, loading screen shows up, a very short black screen, loadingscreen with a red expanding band at the bottom, then I´m in the hangar ready to choose what to do next. Don´t know what was different from the first time but I hope you´ll find a solution!

That of course works.

It does for me as well.

Launching the game from Steam works and you don't need to login anymore once you have completed the Account Merge procedure.

What I was wondering about were certain reports about users being able to run the game without Steam (i.e. directly from IL-2.exe), either after or without the Merge.

After the Merge (which I have performed on my account already), the game crashes to desktop when I run it without Steam.

I guess that's what is supposed to happen, even though for me it's a sad thing, but sh*t happens.

Without the Merge, official description was that you'd only have access to the game content bought directly from the website, but apparently, according to a couple of reports from different users, this is not the case (yet?).

If I knew that before, I would have skipped the Merge and run IL-2.exe directly instead.

But I didn't know, and now there's no way back.

Cheers!

Mike ,

no answer from “Support” yet...so your statement above sounds about right to me...but I too will miss being able to play without Steam. They've asked me to give them a more detailed explanation of this issue this morning so I might have a more detailed answer later this week- stay tuned.

Ok, Storebror, I didn´t try that way as I have the exe for starting the game directly without, I thought, any interference from stem! I´ll try later (after tonights WC fotball match Iran vs aaaportugal!)

till no joy...the support Team might have a problem with my english explanation. They ask for more detailed description & screenshots ( impossible since I can't get BoM to go very far in the first place.) will try again to state my case when I have time.In the meantime I'll just continue to play trhough STEAM...?

I have been working with Tech support about a week trying solve this problem.  My BOS is Stream and BOM is non-Steam.  BOS merge fine and I was able to play the game in Steam and from my desktop icon.  BOM keep giving me errors message about my email and address or password was incorrect.  The "password recovery" feature keep taking me to my account profile.  I went through some trouble shooting steps with tech support but the problem continued. I don't remember exactly what order things were done, but after the trouble shooting BOS would launch in Stream, but not from my desktop icon.  I had to create a shortcut in Steam and move that to my desktop (deleted my old shortcut that actually pointed to the executable file).  Now I can launch BOS from Steam and from my desktop.  For BOM in Steam I had to correct the game install path (right click game and go to properties.  For some reason the path had the game install on my D drive, but the game is installed on the H drive.  Several month ago the game was installed on the D drive, but my computer crash and thing were reinstalled on the H drive).  I also had to log out of my account on the IL-2 web site and use the forgot password feature to create a new password (I used the "remember me" feature so I am not sure why it no longer worked).  So now in Steam or Non-Stream I type in my email address and password and the game crashes to the desktop.

Yes BoM does the same for me.The Support team told me basically that the BoM install has been made obsolete & probably wouldn’t work anymore.I tried a re-install but to no avail. No now considering deleting the entire BoM install- its just taking up space.

So, BOS and BOM are merged and you can remove the install directory for BOM?????????
