In SP is there a way to find a friendly base?

Not in the same way as in Il-2 1946, no. But any airbase on the right side of the lines counts as friendly for emergency landings, I think. If you don't know where you are though, its another story.

There's always the radio compasses that have always been there in the planes that have them.

I think you see the position of your AC when you press "o" even on expert ?

I don't see my AC position on the map. I think that is linked not to realism settings but to tech tips settings.

It used to be linked to "i" which gave the virtual compass /instruments. I fly with that off though. Not played career for a while so I could be mistaken.

I usually look out the window and compare the view to my map.
