Trooper117 Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Still getting 'failed to update' when I start the launcher... anyone else getting this chaps?
Thad Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Salutations, Non Steam here. I had no problems with the update. ?
150GCT_Veltro Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 (edited) You should have to try to launch the game directly via .exe instead of via launcher. Edited June 18, 2018 by 150GCT_Veltro
Trooper117 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 I don't want to play the game, I want to update it!!!
Feathered_IV Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 This happens to me every three or four months over the last five years. The game randomly corrupts itself even when I haven't been playing it. The only reliable fix that I've found is a complete reinstall.
Trooper117 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 Hah!... I think I had to do that ages ago... thanks, I'll try it! Bugger, hasn't worked... If I try to start the game it tells me I need to update to a newer version... if I go through the launcher it tells me 'failed to update' ... bollocks!
150GCT_Veltro Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 (edited) Before delete everything, please check the next update download size. Usually you can have the "Failed to update" error but it's just only a fake message. It's not much different from DCS update, where the download files are stored. I say this because you can have the same error message, even if you delete the update folder. This does usually happen when you install IL2 from scratch. So, if you get the message again after the downloading process, simple run the launcher again and you should have lesser GB to download. Do it till you get 0GB. Don't care about the "Failed to update" message, just repeat the process without deleting the update folder. Edited June 18, 2018 by 150GCT_Veltro
vx111vx111swift Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I had similar problem's in the past few updates. Close the firewall if you have one and it is on. This helped me.
Trooper117 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 Turned firewall off, still getting the same message...
BM357_TinMan Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 For me (and this may or may not apply here) on a computer behind a proxy server type internet connection, the program will not update. The launcher needs to be updated to deal with this as, I have little to no problem updating other applications/programs.
