Legioneod Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Ever since we got the nice water effects on the cockpit I've been thinking it would be very cool to see the same style of effect with the oil leaks. Currently when we get an oil leak it just slowly builds a texture on the screen, it looks more like dirt than oil and is pretty unrealistic in the way it builds up imo. My idea is when you have an oil leak it will start to flow over you cockpit like the current water effect does but instead of going away it would slowly build up a coating of oil all over your cockpit. Depending on how bad the leak is it could potentially limit your visibility to zero. It would also be nice if oil would get on your fuselage over time as well, this could be similar to any other damage texture but instead of holes it would be oil that builds up as it leaks. Also, in order to regain some visibility if your cockpit is completely covered we could have the option to use fuel to clear up the oil a bit (fuel eats oil). I'm not sure what aircraft had this type of system but I've heard that some had it to where you could spray some fuel on the front of the cockpit. Hopefully we will see something like this one day, it would make the game that much more immersive and challenging. Not sure how he managed to land but he did. 3 1 4
kramer Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 (edited) One moment. In Rise of Flight there is a fluid oil effect which is really great. Far better than oil being drawn over the windscreen. Developers already have this code because they created it. Edited July 10, 2018 by kramer

I hope we see a new oil effect in-game now that we have the beautiful water effects.
