Many feared names on those pictures, still remember that feeling when you were hosting, blue slots are filled and your opposition is a mixed bag of red squadrons. You feel relaxed, blue side is on a  radio and very organized, you just wait for few more reds...and then comes the first 3.GIAP and you're like "hmm"...and suddenly red slots are emptied one by one and filled by 8-12 very good 3.GIAP pilots. Pager was a bitch sometimes! Then you get G6 Early vs LA-5fn for the mission...

 

Discussion about co-ops was closed on general forum but I would really like to see devs concentrating on how to get that many people back to the game and pay less time with making tracks visible on dirt roads ( I apologize for that ).

The original tournament in the beginning was"Fighter Sweeps" 2v2, 4v4, 6v6, 8v8, red skins against blue skins, didn't matter what plane you used.  Some very intense dog fights, start off on airfields about 10k apart, take off climb like hell and merge head to head...... last plane in the air won.

VEF was good and fun before a certain red squad was caught using a cheat. Those who flew VEF know it.

I think you might be thinking of early Ghost skies  or another tournament. I flew with JG27 there was tournament that only consist of fighter sweeps only and then you would switch sides. VEF and VEF II was not really like that.  It was more campaign based than a tournament

When I interred VEF I which was around 2001. You had two options Defend (Flying CAP) or attack, which you had the option to fly escort or take a bomber. The map moved based on the mission results. VEF II started right after and at that time the COOP options where you could Attack and defend in the same COOP.

No......... Fighter Sweeps was way before Ghost Skies... 2001,2002, 2003, Red skins vs Blue skins, head on merge, last man flying wins for his squad.
